Expiry dates are indications of best flavor, you can drink any water (sparkling, mineral, still) up to 5years after bottling with no ill effect but after that it takes on characteristic of the vessel and the seal begins to fail leaving it vulnerable to outside contamination. Hope this helped!

I think you misunderstood. They mean that is a fact that's been happening for thousand of years, not that the water in the bottle you buy has taken 1000 years to filter. I know that the filtration rate of the water in most volcanic areas is around 10 years. It means that rain/snow that falls this year would resurface in 10 years time.

Then why do we have mineral waters in Bath? I haven't seen a Volcano near -by?
It has an expiry date so if you stock up and it's past it's sell by date your suckered into buying some more.

good question! i think that its because it is bottled, it should not stay in the bottle for a long period, otherwise the taste goes funny, if this same water was in the nature then it will never expire i suppose

Tap water is as good for you as bottled, its just another way to make money. Send all the bottled water to country's where they really need it.
