I'm going back in time, but if your playlist truly reflects the historical significance of TV theme songs, it really must include these:
Peter Gunn theme - you've heard it you just didn't know it
Mission:Impossible theme - yes, there was a TV show before there was a movie
Ponderosa theme
All in the Family theme - ask your grandma what all the references mean
Hawaii 5-0 theme - great example of surf music and a wedding reception staple
Baretta - sung by Sammie Davis Jr.
And for a dash of obscurity, I have always liked the theme from SWAT, a schlocky 70s cop show from Aaron Spelling, but the theme was big and beefy with a Shaft-like disco undertone.

There have been several great TV themes, including Jonny Quest, Space Ghost, Wild Wild West, Time Tunnel, Lost in Space, and many others. My absolute favorite, the one which gets me going no matter what, is the theme to "Mission: Impossible", by Lalo Schifrin.
