do you try taking the outside lane at the traffic lights to skip ahead? ive done it once or twice before but now avoid this maneuver altogether (to be a fair driver). now im hooked and pray to be first car at a redlight and just wait to see what will pull up beside me*. Anyone else?
*this is due to my exceptional quickstart abilities which have been measured by computer and published by the guinness book of records as the quickest on the planet.
for yay i hath smite so many of greater size and did boxeth them in and flippeth them off.

The outside lane can delay a driver for much longer, if any cars, in front, are turning off the main carraigeway. The same applies to the inside lane. There is nothing worse than being stuck behind other traffic, watching the lights go to green and back to red, whilst only moving a few metres. If there are two lanes, the best option is the inside lane as cars turning have no oncoming traffic to negotiate. If there are three lanes, the best one is the middle lane. Another disadvantage with driving in the inside / outside lanes is that ocassionally, you may get yourself into a "filter" lane and therefore you are forced to leave the main carriage way. Either you have to turn off or risk causing an accident through erratic manouvering. If you were a good driver, you wouldn't be racing to be first at a red light thus having to stop and wait, as well as burn more fuel. This only costs you more money and creates more polution. If you were a good driver, you should be able to read the road ahead and slow down enough to keep moving by catching the lights whilst they are green. There is nothing better than flying past a queue of traffic that have cold started from the lights.

I have a Del Boy Reliant van with a 6 litre Chevy engine hidden in the back. You should see the faces of the boy-racers as I burn away from the lights leaving long trails of scorched tyre rubber in my wake!
Mind you it's a bastard to keep the mother'' on a straight course on those 3 silly little wheels!
