I've worked in restaurants for alot of years and I was told by a friend who is blind that the standard setting is the salt to the right when you are facing the table. hope this helps. I does get alittle confusing when a table is in the middle of the room so we always use the doorway as the head of the tables.

It is pepper to the left of the salt - to be on the safe side though when seating a sight impaired person just tell them where the salt and pepper are. Good Luck!

I have worked many restaurants and banquets I have always been told salt on the right. Today I went to training for a new job and they put the pepper on the right. I feel this is wrong, should I tell them?

Salt on the right, pepper on the left, center of the table or in front of the guest.
