I really want to be healthier and i fully understand the human body wasn't designed to eat animal products. The problem is i love meat, milk and cheese. I was brought up on the stuff. I really want to cut these things out of my diet bc i know how great id feel if i did. So whats the best way to ease into veganism?

Silly boy..u can get vitamin b 12 from seaweed. And tigers and lion are carnivores genius. Our bodies arent designed to digest meat..

Find great vegan food.

I used to be just the same, at first because it was new to me i thought there wasnt as much to eat, but when you actually start to realize how little plant based foods their are in a standard meat diet, theres so much more stuff than what you think.

once you find some great food you can make its just as good as a normal diet but you feel great too : )

yes silly indeed, vitamin b12 is in and all around us, if we are but in the right conditions to absorb it.

Gut flora has always been the key to b12, something that western health care turns a blind eye to due to the overuse of antibiotics.

there are no animals that produce b12. its produced by microorganisms contained in soil or in the animal... all life on the planet relys on bacteria to get cobalt to us.

meat eaters are more likely to have a b12 deficiency, most just dont care about what they eat and we generally dont hear about it.

i take care of my gut flora. i believe this is what keeps humans from vitamin b component deficiencies.

I was like you. I was brought up on milk, cheese, and meat even though I was more of a seafood eater. I just went vegan cold turky. Now that I look back on it, I think that was best. The first month will be really hard though because you'll get cravings and you also won't know about what to cook and stuff like that, but after a month you get in to the routine of always reading ingredients and making your own vegan food at home. Oh, as a hint, fake vegan meats really help sometimes during your meat cravings. Amy's Kitchen brand seems best since Boca and Morningstar are sometimes not vegan. (Always read ingredients)

I think that if I had done what most people suggest, just do it slowly and give up things one at a time, I would have become impatient with becoming vegan and cheated by having more cheese and seafood or whatever. So going cold turky seems best to me.

Also, be sure you're getting all the vitamins and nutrients you need. It's easy for people who are just starting off vegan to lack in something because you're just not sure what to eat. Silk soy milk is amazing btw. It has so many vitamins that most people think only come from meat.

You won't regret being vegan either. I've been vegan for almost 7 months now and I've felt better than I ever have. I usually always get colds and I haven't had one cold since I've been vegan and I doubt that's just a coincidence. Also, don't let people get to you either. Most people, after finding out that I was vegan, tried really hard to talk me out of it. It's amazing how many people will describe vegans as being preachy when I've never really been preachy, it's usually others trying to get me to eat meat.

Luckily, there are lots of analogues you can buy that approximate the texture of meat (as for the taste, it's really the seasonings that make the meal), cheese, and milk. Watch out for casein (milk protein) in soy cheese, though.

There are numerous soy ice creams and even a rice ice cream--experiment to find a type you like. Same with soy, rice, oat, or nut milks.

Eat lots of veggie foods you do like, of course.

Your local natural food store or a Whole Foods will carry a lot of vegan-friendly stuff. There are also several online retailers of vegan items: www.veganstore.com, www.veganessentials.com, and www.foodfightgrocery.com for starters.

You have to decide the best way to go vegan--whether you go cold tofu or ease into it.

vegans can eat :lentils, beans, whole grains, rice, fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds and soy.

when you go to the grocery store, make sure you check labels ( animal ingredients tend to pop up every where.) just by not having non vegan food in the house makes it a thousand times easier to live a vegan lifestyle. :) and there are alternatives to milk and eggs and meat. there are of course meat substitutes (some better than others), there are egg substitutes and for milk there are either : rice, soy or almond milks you can choose from (i love almond breeze. the chocolate taste just like regular chocolate milk!) there is even vegan 'buttery sticks' (which are made of vegetable oils rather than margarine. .. i am actually not sure what margarine is made of but i know its not good for you!)

a brand i like a lot is amy's. there are frozen meals and soups offered by them. the only thing that i suggest NOT buying from them is any vegan soup that have noodles in them. they are reallly gross!

i would say just give up meats but i know that may not work! so how bout we just say slowly cut them out of your diet? each week limit it to less and less until maybe your only having fish or meat once a week. then just stop. or you could continue to eat those things, having vegan tendencies, just know that as long as you do, your not a veg head! :) (many people don't think of chicken or fish as meat. grr)

any change you do to your lifestyle is beneficial both to your health and (not sure if you care about this part or not) to the animals and environment. even if you never fully reach veganism, i hope you receive some of the benefits that you can get from eating healthier! if you need any help at all, just e mail me. i'd be more than happy to help you with anything :)

I think the best way to ease into it is by using some mock-meat to replace meat, vegan cheese or nutritional yeast flakes to replace cheese and trying the bevy of different plant
milks to figure out which one you like best. There's soy milk,
hemp milk, rice milk, almond milk and oat milk. I'ves, Boca,
Lightlife and Dr.Praegers all make good veg'an patties and
quich meals. Once you get into a more advanced stage of
vegetarianism you can get away from using fake meat by
learning to use different legumes, grains, veggies and nuts
in order to get protein.

Maybe a more gradual change? Such as, cut out red meat first, see how your body handles it and how you like it, then cut out all meat. Stay vegetarian for a few months or so, learning about veganism and veg*n nutrition, then go vegan. Or something like that.

If you really love those items in your diet, you don't want to cut them out all at once. It ups your chances for getting discouraged and just giving up on veganism. Just go at your own pace and start cutting certain things out.

Are you a vegetarian now? That would help. Turning vegan could be devastating to your digestivesystem. One should ease into vegetarianism first. Basically you just stop eating meat. Milk and cheese would then be ok to eat. Some vegetarians even eat seafood.
Humans were actually desgined to eat everything. There are no omnivores like us. A strict vegan diet would cause a human to develop malnutrition as some nutrients human need are only found in the animal kingdom. So vegans constantly need to eat foodsupplements. If you are only interested in becoming healthier you could just cut down on meat and only eat what is recommended. Humans today eat way more meat than necessary. And start to gradually replace the animal products with vegetarian alternatives that are high on protein. There are essential aminoacids in meat that the human body needs. Vegetable protein does not contain as much of those so you always need to peas, beans and podplants. I have found that just eating more fiber than my digestivesystem is used to can feel like a bomb exploded in my gut. And a vegetarian diet contains alot more fiber than a non vegetarian diet. The bacteriaflora in your intestines will object if you cut the meat cold turkey so you really need to ease into a vegetarian diet. There are yeast/mushroom products, like quorn, that are designed to mimic meat in taste, nutrient value and even texture. You can put it in your dishes like you would minced meat. There are also soyproducts that are supposed to do this. So ease into it. And good luck!

I wish to congratulate on your wish & zest to be a vegetarian. Just start, U will develope a taste for it. Start with spicy food. Enough junk foods are available in veg & I am sure u will like them.
Take a lot of fruit juice to fil the stomach in beginning if u don't easily turn to veg food.
Take rice, fried rice, veg rice, chinese rice as main course.
You can take a bit more of ice creams & cakes to add to variety.
