Well remember when God stopped a mob of people from stoning to death a women who was unfaithful. He said Let he who has no sin cast the first stone. No one is perfect and to err is human. But of course Jesus would of wanted to us to acknowledge what is wrong and then repent by fixing the mistake. When one becomes aware of what they did was wrong then no longer commit the mistake.

Rae, it means absolutely nothing to me. I have heard that in SO many hateful tirades against me because I am a Witch that I want to barf every time I hear it. It's simply another way to express hatred towards others without having to accpet the fact that the hatred IS being directed towards that person. I see that as just another form of "doublespeak" used by Bibleans to emotionally assault those who don't believe that THEIR way is the ONLY way. Hate is hate, and no matter HOW it's colored it's STILL hatred.

It's a saying that's so full of judgment that it inspires people to say "Hate the Christianity, not the Christian" which is sad because the message of Christ is now lost on both the person that thinks he's serving God and the one that knows he isn't but now hates it all the more.
No one professing Christ should advocate any form of hate.
1st John 4:8
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Lets see. One of my close friends is gay. I'm fine with it. But then he got a boyfriend, and I started to worry. I'm afraid that he will lose the focus on God in his life (for he is Christain). Or that he'll end up with his heart broken. If God says something isn't right - that's because he's trying to protect us. If we don't listen - we get hurt.
Another one. I was raped by my ex-foster-brothers when I was 6 years old. But right now all I want to do is find them and tell them that (If they havn't already figured this out) they'll never be content with their lives until they give them up to Jesus. I don't hate them. I don't even hate what they did to me. (although, the general sin of rape and child molestation I absolutely dispise but I don't hate the fact that I was a victum of it because now I can help people)
If you choose to hate the sinner. you end up with a broken relationship and a lost opportunity to show someone how wonderful it is to serve the LORD!
But if you only hate the sin, you will strive to encourage others to empty all sin in their lives and replace it with integrity and wisdom so that they can lead fufilling lives and have peace no matter what the situation.
It means - be like Jesus, and follow the 2 greatest commandments. If you love others, you will want what is best for them. and sin only causes pain (after the momentary happiness; glamor) in their lives. It's like letting your 2 year old drink a cleaning solution until they die. You hate that they're drinking that cleaning solution and want them to stop now, because you love them and don't want them to die.

it means to hate the sin (what the sinner did) but not hate the sinner because god said not to hate anybody. and the sinner can always be forgiven...the sin was only committed because the devil lead the sinner to committing the sin.

To me it means to hate the thing the person is doing while still caring about the person. That care should sometimes, if you have the relationship to do so, tell them that they are doing wrong. It also should include telling the person about the saving faith of Jesus Christ.

I used to use this line, but I've come to realize that it's simply a justification for not fully accepting people as they are.
Now, if you apply it to something ridiculous like stealing, yes you can dislike the fact somebody steals but love the person.
It gets foggy when you say, hate the gayness but love the gay person. Ummm.... That doesn't work. No self-affirming gay person on the planet sees that as love, they see it as hate masked in piety.
I tend to agree with that assertion. If you are trying to present love, and it's received as hatred, was it really love to begin with?
Hmm.....

It means the person is trying to justify their hatred. For example, people use it when condemning gay people. Instead of admitting that homophobia is a sin, they justify the homophobia by saying it's the homosexuality they hate, not the homosexual. The reality is that the homosexual feels the hatred, so all the justifying in the world doesn't make it right.

To me it means: Every Religion is PERFECT. (yes I just said that) It's the followers of that religion that stain it.
It's the same philosophy they teach in AA. Hate the Alcohol, not the alcoholic.
It is a way to recognize we are humans, with many colorful imperfections. Why hate each other?
