Yes, vegetarians tend to get more fiber and do not have meat rotting in their colons. They have much lower instances of colon cancer than meat eaters do.
You might miss meat, but I never have (it's been 20+ years!)
I think vegetarianism has been great for me. It's a healtier diet overall and it makes me feel good about my role on this planet. It's far more ecologically sound than a meat-based diet and the environmental factors are as important to me as the health stuff (and the animal welfare stuff, which is important, too.)
If you don't like meat, just know that you don't need it. There's nothing in meat that you can't get from a balanced plant-based diet. So, try giving it up if you don't like it... it doesn't sound like it would be hard for you. At least you can see whether you feel that it improves YOUR life and makes YOU feel better.

It's wonderful!!! Yes being veg*n helps your colon and other things. As a veg*n my rate for heart disease, colon cancer, and suffering from a stroke or heart attack has dropped 50%. And personally I have never had any *normal* stomach problems such as constipation. I'm 20 years old and have been veg since I was 12. Never ate much meat before then either. I feel wonderful. And the overall quality is so much better and will be that way just because the way I eat. I also look about 14 years old. Most veg*ns look way younger than they really are. Go veg. It's the key to the fountain of youth.

I don't know about colon. I just know I'm healthier as vegetarian than when I was a meat eater! I was in the hospital more often when I was meat eater. And most of the illnesses were attributed to meat I had eaten! Some were from chemicals unnaturally placed in food.. Chemicals that don't belong in our foods. Manufactuirers still do that and they call these chemicals perservatives. At least now there's regulations on how much they are allowed to put in food!

i can't specifically say it helped my colon, but my dad has many problems with his colon and he cut out most meat (not fully vegetarian though) and says it's a lot better now. i have bad stomach problems that being a vegetarian has helped.
i don't miss meat, no. if you decide to become vegetarian and you're missing meat, soy alternatives taste so much like the real thing now that you can just pop 'em in the microwave for your fix :)
i think it has made my life better in a physical and spiritual way.

Colon? I have no idea...
Yeah, sometimes I miss meat, but only because other people try to pressure me into eating it- if you don't like it in the first place, it shouldn't be a problem.
Being a vegetarian has made me feel better about myself because I know I'm doing what I think is right- improved my life? ...I guess

well you definatly get more fiber... lol. at first you may miss meat but there are plenty of meat alternatives that taste and feel like meat to make the transition easier. personally, i feel incredible since i gave up meat! i have tons of energy, more confidence, and a general healthy glow. it's just like anything else... to be healthy you have to work at it. you can be a vegetarian and not be healthy. processed foods and pre-packaged crap may be vegetarian but they arent healthy! potato chips and french fries are vegetarian but that doesnt make them good for you! you cant use this kind of food as a substitue for meat. if you have the mindset of "oh well since i dont eat meat i can eat twice as much chips/cookies/candy etc... then no you're not going to benefit from making the transition to a meat free lifestyle. every now and then i get a craving for a nice piece of chicken (the only meat i ever really ate) but then i stop and think about how great i look and feel, and all the germs and bacteria (not to mention the pain and suffering of the chicken) and it turns my stomach to think about actually putting a piece of dead, rotting flesh in my mouth. i'm going totally vegan. i havent ever liked milk or eggs so those arent hard to live without.... but it's all the hidden animal ingredients in a lot of seemingly innocent foods that i'm still working to eliminate such as gelatin, gum base, caesin, rennet, whey proteins, etc...

Honestly, I haven't missed meat AT ALL. I've been vegan since the beginning of the year, and no-mammal for several years before that. I'm a huge sushi fan, and have found plenty of substitutions in veggie sushi, so that's not even a problem. I think you'll find that most things that you like to eat are tasty because of the spices and sauces....NOT because of the meat that's flavored by them. So there are plenty of substitutions for everything. At least, that's been my experience.

Yes i believe it does.
After becoming vegetarian i have felt my digestive system at least double in effectiveness and speed.
meat weighs you down so much... i only intended to try being vegetarian for 30 days to see what its like and now i could never go back.
I have found that my sense of taste and smell has increased and changed as well, I dont miss meat at all anymore, it was harder in the beginning but now its fine.
