Gotu Kola is supposed to do all kinds of things. I've been taking it for my fibromyalgia and it definitely helps me sleep better. As far as lowering my blood sugar, it's hard to tell because high blood sugar hasn't been a problem since I've learned to manage my diet, weight, and exercise regimen properly.

Gotu Kola is dirt cheap when compared to other stuff. If your sugar is running high, why don't you try it and let us know? Or, better yet, you can follow the plan I've been using for months that works quite well. Check it out: http://www.geocities.com/seabulls69/Type_II_Diabetes.html

I would only take medications prescribed by the doctor, nothing else whatsoever.

What will help lower it fast is exercise. It may take a day to show up, but if you exercise 30 minutes or more a day, it will start to get much lower and stay much lower and fast. It's the best way out there to lower your sugars and regain your health.
