You're confusing your body so yes oif you go back to eating meat you might get a bit of sickness cause your body is readjusting. Protein isn't the most important thing your body needs it's certain Enzymes they are found in both fruits and meats. Iron is even more important than protein. A proper vegetarian diet gets more than enough protein eating a wide variety of greens, beans, fruits, seeds, grains, there's no lack of protein on a true vegetarian diet. Also note meat is recycled protein it's already been used! The healthiest animals are vegetarian are they not? Meaning they don't eat meats! What do cows eat? Rabbit eat? Horses eat? not meat!

It's true that if you go a while without eating meat, eating it will make you nauseous. I'm not sure why, I think it's because meat is much harder to digest, and remains in your intestinal tract longer than other foods. Your intestines probably need to produce a lot more acids in order to digest the meat, since you haven't eaten it in a while.
To me, this is why there is no reason to go back to eating meat after becoming a vegetarian. Besides, there are plenty of protein sources besides meat. I don't see getting pregnant as a reason to go back to meat.
You need to ask yourself why you decided to become a vegetarian in the first place. Is it for dietary reasons or because of your beliefs about animal rights? For me it was both. But the main reason should be because you believe that animals should be left alone, not used for food, because they are living creatures. If this is not the reason you switched to a vegetarian diet, then you are almost certain to go back to eating meat.

Do you plan to breastfeed? If so you will still need protein and if you plan to go back to veg, then your picky ways have to stop anyway and finally start eating good vegetarian protein sources! As for your sickness: Something I read prior to going completely veg, but after I gave birth talked about too much red meat can cause morning sickness affect! So according to this study, the problem is in and of itself! Otherwise do what the first chick said and test it to see, but you might have to do it longer than one day since red meat lingers in your system awhile, try a week or so!

The average person only needs about 5% protien intake per day and pregnant women need 6%. I'm sure you can find plenty of ways to get protien. I know on one occasion during the five years I have been a vegetarian I accidentally ate some chili that had meat in it and instantly threw up all over my car. Meat takes several days to digest and sits in your digestive tract for that time. You're body my have a hard time adjusting to the slowed metabolism and increase gas from bacterial build up in the digestive tract. If you choose to continue to eat meat add a lot of vegetables with antioxidants to reduce gas and bacterial build up. Citrus fruit is good, green tea, carrots, cherries, grapes, and green leafy veggies. If you would prefer to eat a vegetarian diet here is a web site that lists vegetables with protien and the amount and a web site about how to maintain a vegetarian diet during pregnancy.

I get VERY sick if I eat meat. I haven't ate it in about 7 years. My doctor said it was because my body could no longer digest animal proteins. Depending on how long you haven't eaten meat it could very well be that. Or if it hasn't been a long time it could be that your body hasn't forgotten how to digest it but that it needs time to readjust to eating it again. I get really really sick. If you feel sick really fast like you go from feeling fine to yucky real fast and it's about 30 minutes after you eat I'd say it was the meat. And if you get sick sick you should feel better imediately. Just like that. Watch when you start to feel yucky and you should know.

If you haven't been experiencing morning sickness before you went back to eating meat, it probably *is* the meat. Morning sickness usually begins pretty early in pregnancy, sometimes even before you know you're expecting.

I think if it were just the meat, you would be getting stomach cramps as well. Have you tried eating fish instead? It has protein and might be easier to transition to from total veggie.

Maybe if you should not eat meat for a day ( get protein from something else) & see if you still feel that way. . . if you do, it may just be a side affect of being pregnant : )'

It really suprises me when people say they are pcky so they eat meat. I would think that someone that is picky would be less worried about plants and more turned off by dead animal flesh - but that's just me.
