It's not the actual dryer that emits CO2, it's the generating of the electricity that runs your dryer. Thus said ~ dryers consume an incredible amount of electricity. They are right up there with refrigerators and ACs for high energy drying appliances.
In the old days, before dryers and wash n wear, laundresses spen many dozens of hours ironing a families laundry. My mom used to spend 2 full days a week ironing all our clothes so they would be nice for school & church.
I own a dryer ~ I consider it a necessity. I live in a very arid state, where our cotton clothes, jeans, & undergarments dry more wrinkled than a California prune. To steam iron all our clothes would takes about 4 hours of a day, plus use about 5 gallons of water. What I do instead instead, is to tumble the clothes for two minutes, THEN hang them on the line. They dry completely unwrinkled and save me the hassle of all that ironing (which also uses electricity and water).
In the winter, clothes can take up to 4 to 5 days to dry on the line outside, and 3 to 4 days to dry indoors. By tossing the clothes in the dryer for about 5 minutes, it removes most of the moisture (which returns to the house in the form of humidity and heat), and reduces the line drying time by a couple of days.
I don't feel guilty about using an dryer ~ but do minimize my use as much as possible. You could certainly do the same without feeling guilty about it, either.

If you know how much power your dryer uses, you can plug it into
http://www.americanforests.org/resources/ccc/
to get your answer.
Assuming 3,000 Watts, for one hour, 4.5 lbs of carbon dioxide.
Dryers *also* emit water vapor, which is a green-house gas too, but most do not worry about that.

You will find that Carbon Dioxide, CO2, is environmentally friendly. It is used by plants. Carbon Monoxide, CO, is the dangerous one. What kind of clothes dryer gives off Carbon Dioxide or Monoxide?
