Champ in boxing history- Marciano- who wins in their primes?

ALI's- Resume of victories over a long list of hall of fame fighters speaks volumes about how skilled he was as a fighter!

In boxing it's about who you beat, not how many over the hill fighters, or how many lower skilled fighters you have defeated to pad your record.

Be honest with yourself, look at the technique both fighters displayed, look at the opponents both fighters defeated, and who do you honestly believe comes out on top in this one.

In my opinion ALI WOULD DOMINATE THIS FIGHT- PROBABLY EVEN KNOCKING MARCIANO OUT IN THE LATER ROUNDS.

MARCIANO WAS KNOCKED DOWN AND HURT BADLY BY A 42 YEAR OLD ARCHIE MOORE WHO WAS NOT A LEGIT HEAVY-WEIGHT.

MY GOODNESS! WHAT WOULD THE GREATEST DO TO HIM!

Last time I checked to all you Marciano nut huggers??

Ali didn't fight any boxers out of his weight class like Marciano did in light heavyweights.

Ali fought the greats while they were still great.

Ali had better skill

Ali had better foot work

Ali had better hand work

Marciano fought old washed up ex great champs

Marciano calls out an old and not willing to fight for the glory and honor Louis

Marciano fights a true light heavyweight who was in his 40's Archie Moore not only that but Marciano was floored by the light heavy. Shows how good his chin was if he got floored by a boxer who is naturally smaller than him???

Archie Moore the following year fights Floyd Patterson and gets knocked out in 5 instead of 9 with Marciano

Marciano ducks Patterson and Liston but Ali destroys Patterson and Liston

Marciano refused to come out of retirement to face Ali for real in the ring but instead took the fake computer fight just to make a quick dollar. Marciano was even embarrassed to do that but needed the money and even stated that Ali was better than him!

Fact is Ali is better than Marciano and to all you nut hugging Marciano fans don't get all bent because the Ali bar be Que is allot stronger and bigger than the stove top dinner gathering you nut hugger have created!!

Fact is Ali was the greatest tested heavyweight of all time and Marciano was the greatest un tested of all time. FACT

Ali wins easily!!!!

WOW, he did hit the nail right on the head. The greatest tested champ Ali vs the greatest untested champ Marciano.

Well all I can say is that if Marciano didn't want to fight Ali for real but rather star in a fake computer fight just to increase his image as the best to his fans as well as a big payday.

Honestly considering that Marciano's opponents were spoon fed he also did not fight a great while he was great. Actually forced Louis out of his exile to fight Marciano knowing that Louis didn't want to fight anymore he couldn't pass up the great payday just to pay back on his taxes.

Also to consider the thought that Rocky would beat Mike Tyson is absurd because even if Mike was already pass the thought of him showing signs of his greatness years before, after all the trash talk towards him he still got his *** up and fought Holyfield and Lewis knowing he wasn't the same. He wanted both man in the 80's and never got them.

Marciano was offered fights with Patterson Liston and Ali and refused the competition even if he was to get beat he would have still proven how strong his heart is and determination was. Because he didn't it just proved how soft and undetermined he is to not get hurt. He was only in it for the money and beating up washed up ex champs and tomato cans is no excuse to why he retired so early?? He was a business man he had enough money and didn't get hurt real bad so his plan worked too bad it didn't work for his business which never happened. Marciano was no match for most of the 70's heavyweights and if a true lightweight 42 year old Moore could challenge a young Marciano than a 42 year old Marciano could challenge an opponent half his age but he didn't so in my opinion Louis and Moore have more heart and determination than Marciano ever had.

Ali knocks Marciano out in the 4 round with a floating jab while he is dancing backwards!!! Marciano was too slow and his skill level was nothing compared to Ali.

I disagree with people who say that Ali will win easy just because Archie Moore got in a lucky shot. How about Henry Cooper who weight about the same as Rocky put Ali on the canvas with a single left hook, Ali get up and win the fight on cut. A more fair comparison would be asking a question, did Ali fought anyone short with short arm who can punch hard and always come forward. Joe Frazier come to mind, can a short arm fighter land a punch on a very fast Ali? Joe Frazier in their 1st fight did drop Ali so I think Ali-Marciano will be a trilogy just like the Ali-Frazier trilogy...with Ali edge out a 2-1 decision.

Marciano hit well to the body, similar to the way Ricky Hatton, and Tyson did. The body movement side to side. But this would not be enough to take out the Great Ali. Ali was a smart fighter, he was famous for is boxing technique. Ali would take him out in under 6 rounds by outclassing and out boxing the slower, shorter, Marciano.

Yes, Ali is the greatest heavyweight of all time. He had unbelievable speed for a fighter in his weight class. In his prime there was no one who could best him. There hasn't been a heavyweight since Ali with his speed or footwork. And he was a genius in the ring. I believe the smartest boxer ever to enter the ring. There's always a chance that someone could arrive on the boxing scene to best Ali as "The Greatest". I just don't think it's likely to happen. As for Burt Sugar's opinion, there's no way Joe Louis, as great as he was, would have beaten Ali! He just isn't in Ali's class as a fighter (talent wise). Sorry Burt!

Ali's resume of great wins is unparalleled in all of sport. Rarely do all-time greats go up against one fellow all timer; Ali went up against 3, beat them all by KO, and lost only once.

Marciano did what no other fighter did, he got the job done every time. Ali didn't. But that doesn't make him better than Ali, it just means Marciano, like most all-time great athletes, didn't have a fellow all-timer to test his merit. That's not Rocky's fault, and honestly, you couldn't ask for anything more than what he did against the competition at the time. But Ali proved his all-time greatest-ness in the ring.

Ali was never knocked out in the ring. Marciano's only chance against Ali is a KO. Ali would not be able to KO Marciano but he would win on points or a TKO.

i respect and understand fully what you are saying, and i am in ccordance with your findings, but the topic of muhummad ali vs. rocky marciano has become quite redundant with us true boxing historians who really know the truth of the outcome in spite of some non-beleivers, picture 5 ft 10 inch, 186 lbs, 68 inches reach vs. 6 ft 3 inches, 212 lbs, 80 inches reach, marciano if you have studied his films, he fights out of a crouch, a plodder as far as footwork goes, and extremely easy to hit, let us not forget his scar tissue issue, i m not taking anything away from marciano, but his loyal fans have to understand he was in the right place at the right time in boxing history, and his record of 49-0 (43) will always have fans thinking was he the fighter that could be defeated ?

It is an arguement that will never end, but I have to back Big E and Brad Morris on this one. Ali was simply too talented, his speed, chin and will to win cancel out the punching power and will of Marciano, but that leaves a man with a 68 inch reach trying to knock out a gifted boxer with a 82 inch reach. The physical advantages all go to Ali.

Ali would have easily defeated Marciano.

You hit the nail right on the head. The Greatest Heavyweight of all time against the greatest untested Heavyweight champ of all time. Ali would have danced & stuck & moved on Rocky & did him the same way he did Frazier & Liston. Frazier would have been quicker than Marciano & Liston hit harder so neither one of them did anything to bother Ali so what could short small Rocky do. To everyone that says Frazier beat Ali the 1st time let's remember that Ali just sat out 3 years without boxing. No one can do that & with about 2 or 3 tuneup fights, fight for the heavyweight championship. Plus when Rocky at the age of 32 started to get tested he retired rather than show if he was truely great!!!
