Do soy candles work as well as normal beeswax candles?
Are they better for the environment?

I just want to know if soy candles are better...
I don't want to hurt the bees!!!
The wax is part of their home, how would you like it if someone pulled a big piece of your house out and burned it!?!
This is a serious question.

They are just as good as the beeswax candles, and they don't produce much smoke so I would say they are better than the environment. I bought one and loved it. :) I plan to get another one soon. In fact, even when it's not lit it will still emit its fragrance.
I got a beanpod candle and you can go to beanpod.com for a list of what kinds they have and even where you can buy them.

I don't use candles, but if I did, I would try to find an alternative to beeswax, such as soy. I don't understand why everyone on here gets so upset when all we are trying to do is reduce animal suffering and exploitation.
Obviously, bees do produce wax naturally, but do you think that large, corporate produces of candles go out and look for beehives and scrape the wax out? No, the bees are harvested and held in captivity. Whether or not the bees are physically harmed by this process is a matter of debate. However, they are still creatures that deserve all the freedoms and basic rights of other creatures. They should be allowed to roam free and live where and how they like just as all creatures should.
That being said, even if you disagree with that notion, there is no reason to be so hostile and aggressive about it. Just because someone has a different view than you, doesn't mean they don't deserve respect.

I have used Soy candles and they work better for me. Lasts longer, makes less mess and smells better. Now it might be because I feel lighter about using soy instead of beeswax. In any case, it was a revelation to me that people would take offense at such an innocuous question. Whatever others might say, just know that being true to yourself will always be the most valuable part of you and treat the rest as noise for that is what unproductive comments will be.

I bought a small soy candle and burned it... it was the only candle that made the biggest wax-mess I've ever had. maybe it was a bum one. I think I prefer beeswax.

Why would you want to use 'soy' candles rather than any 'beeswax' or 'paraffin' candle. There are NO 'animal products' in any candles ... the bees do 'make' the wax, but since it isn't edible, it shouldn't 'count against you' ... and BEESWAX is the 'very best' of all of the candles you can buy ... if you get 'plain' with an 'organic' wick they should 'burn cleanly' ... far MORE cleanly than 'soy' candles would or any other type of 'wax' ...

I don't know about being better for the environment, but soy candles work very well.
You can also buy soy candle chips at a craft store to melt in a microwave and make your own candle shapes.

They work just as well and they burn alot cleaner...none of those nasties get into the air like petroleum candles. Buying soy candles also supports soy farmers.

Lightbulbs?? heavily, paraffin wax is the main hassle-free used right here. soy candles are practically non existent as soy is very practically one hundred% used for foodstuff not for such products as candles and stuff. in certainty, bees wax is practically non existent in recent times right here the two.

No, & no. Talk to a candlemaker.
Vegan candles. You do realize no bees are killed in collecting beeswax, right? It is a product they produce in mass & it doesn't hurt them at all. Personally, I think that is going a bit too far. It isn't like meat.

soy candles are ok... i use them often. go to ebay.com and key up "soy candles" you'll come across loads of sellers.
as usual with all things not all are created equal. you must buy and try.
i'm ok with them.. most the soy candles i use last longer, don't have that black smoke and the smell is much stronger.
