you don't understand the whole process, obviously. EVERYTHING eaten is broken down into simple sugars for cellular metabolism. Some things just break down more quickly than others. A diabetic can do just find without ANY refined sugars at all, probably do better. Suggest that your question indicates a real need for education, you might want to consider an appointment with a nutritionist.

Why do non medical personnel like to look like experts by using abbreviations like 'carbs'? Actually diabetes is not consistent between patients. Type 2 is distinctly different to type 1. Type 1 patients sometimes have to take sugar if their sugar levels drop too low. Type 2 patients generally should avoid refined sugar and products which contain it but their degree of hyperglycemia varies a lot between one person and another.
