candy and desert can do it. those reading are high. you are taking alot of insulin. did the doctor tell you that? 30 is alot you must have probelms are you reading your sugar 4 x day? you need to. the lantus is to prevent you from bottoming out but i can mess up. but sounds ok. sometimes checking bloods ugars at 3am is good to do once in awhile to check. you are runing your organs at that high they need to come down.

They have hard candy for diabetics without sugar. If you get some; make sure that it has no sugar in it. It may not say the word sugar but there are many other names that have sugar in them.
Some of the names included are:
High glycemic: response sugars include: sucrose, glucose, dextrose, evaporated can juice, maltodrxtrin, galactose, corn syrup, dextrin, beet sugar, raw sugar, brown sugar, white sugar, concentrated fruit juice, syrup, sorghum, honey, maple syrup, rapadura and high fructose corn syrup.

Low glycemic: response sweeteners include fructose, stevia, acesulfame potassium sweetener, saccharine and aspartame (in Nutra Sweet and Equal, but not in sodas)

My boyfriend is a type 1 diabetic. I would think it was probably the combination of both. My boyfriend can eat sweets, but just not alot at once. If I were you, I would just keep testing and see what works.

I don't understand why do you suck on a piece of hard candy instead drinking some water to ease your dry mouth?

the fruit and the candy raised your sugar and the fact that you were sleeping and not burning much energy all night. Suggest you get rid of the candy, or at least go to surgarless candy if you must have some.
