It makes more sense to me that he'd make each of us different, but put in our soul the perfect knowledge of His own being, and how to worship Him properly.

Why didn't he create what He desired, a race of people designed to worship Him?
... and if He did not create people designed to worship Him, can He really find fault with human beings for acting "naturally"?

re: "Pick a team"
I've got my own opinions, but I'm more interested in what other people have to say. This is question that I'm sure has occured to everyone who has thought about God and the nature of free will, atheist or theist alike.

You have just logically disproved the existence of that particular god. Well done.

Problem is that we created him and like everything else the idea of "God" has evolved and diversified over the years. He does what we want, depending on how "we" decide what he should be like. To some he is vengeful and controlling - such believers think that everyone else will burn in the fires of hell etc for not listening. Other's believe he just sits there and observes us - as you would with a toy train set - occasionally changing the signals, but generally just leaves things run as they are. I suppose he deserves a rest - he did create the universe in six days - I can't even decorate my dining room in that time. And I suppose to believers he is both omnipetent and omnipresent, exists outside space and time (so how does he know how long a day is anyway!) - so he knows how it will all work out in the end - he's done all his interefering (strangely enough he did it all thousands of years ago when there weren't many people around, and those that were believed things like the earth was flat, so I wouldn't trust them as a reliable source anyway). If he showed up today can you imagine how hard it would be to keep a low profile! All that media attention! He wouldn't get a moments peace.

The problem for religion today is that more people are enlightened and look to science and reason for real answers.

If we didn't have some amount of free will, we would not even know this because our brains would not be made to function as the do now.

God wanted earthly children. He also uses a selection process similar to what evolutionist claim is at work, the fittest survives.

Thus those that have no spiritual insight and cannot 'see' God and do not want to obey him, these shall all be permitted to die off for ever.

The ones that pass the test will be given eternal life on earth. The fittest survive. These ones have proved their fitness to God.

So, God gets what he wants -- he always does. This time Murphy unfortunately had a big wrench that went into a big clock. The problem has taken time to solve, but it is about time now.

He did create people that had knowledge of His being but Eve kind of ruined that for everyone and people were made in God's image so that's why we are free to make choice.

And from a not so religious point of you He hadn't give us free will it would be ;like just like playing an eternity long game of Sims which I think would get quite boring after a while. LoL

Its fairly simple, god did not give us free will. if you believe the story of the garden of eden then free will was given to humans by the devil when he got eve to eat the forbidden fruit, up until that time Adam and eve were completely subservient to the will of a tyrannical god who wants every one to worship him and wants any one who doesn't to die. Satan is a much better god than Jehovah .

God did create mankind to glorify him. It pleases the Lord when we obey his commands and conversely it angers the Lord when we disobey. By choosing the follow God and reject the pervert wisdom of mankind we please and glorify God. Free will is a test, without it we would be unable to prove our love for God. But disobedience come with a price and we have all broken God's commandments and therefore are liable to his punishment which is death. That's why it is so very important to repent (Turn from sin and turn to God) and believe in Jesus Christ who has paid for our disobedience as a substitute for mankind. If you do not do this you will pay for the punishment yourself. Don't wait! You can not know when you will breath your last breath. Read the Bible.

Mathew 7:26
But everyone who hears these words of mine (Jesus) and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.

As a Spiritualist we believe that we are here to learn lessons from which we will grow and progress spiritually.

Often in religion the God figure is referred to as Father or Mother in either case the association is made to a think of God in a parental terms.

Like all parents we would like our children to be happy, healthy and successful and we would like to be there to help and protect our children whenever they come across problems etc.. However we also know that it is impractical of us to be there all the time and we know also that our children must be given the freedom to make mistakes. For we know the hard lessons that it is only through our mistakes that we learn and grow.

I believe God as the Father is giving us the freedom to equally learn lessons and grow. Of course we don't always learn from our lessons but then like a true parent God never judges.

I think Duckphup's analysis is OK but incomplete. To his point 2 that I quote below, I would add my addition option 2a

2. IF we possess 'free will' AND god exists, THEN, of necessity, it is IMPOSSIBLE that god is omniscient. (This does not preclude the notion of 'god'... it just means that he can't be as 'supreme' as one might think he is... or wish him to be.) You are (logically) obliged to acknowledge that god CAN NOT BE all knowing... and since omniscience is one of the things that makes god 'all powerful', then this means that god CAN NOT BE omnipotent, either.

2a Unless the supreme being chose to limit his sovereignty and create free will so that he could interact with FREE beings.

free will is just another cruel joke made up by some man to control peoples actions. There can not be free will and rules it doesn't even make sense even to the people saying it so if you would use reason you would disregard the free will thinking.

"Free will" assumes the notion that somehow an omniscient God is taken by surprise at what He merely thought we would decide to do in any given situation, but didn't. Our history as a race proves otherwise.

You have answered your own question "Why didn't he create what he desired". And I am curious to know how God can find fault with anyone.
