My Australian friend tells me that a serving of Vegemite raises both one's IQ and testosterone level.

Is this true?

Also, is Vegemite available in American stores? More specifically, San Diego?

Vitamin B supports immune system functions, speeds up the metabolism, and supposedly helps with skin tone.

I could only find it on line

This pseudo-informative answer has clearly been inspired by Jack, but given to you by Patrick

Vegemite is just like Marmite (an English version of Vegemite). It is promoted as containing high level of Vitamin B. Various tests have shown that you need to eat jarful to get some vit. B. It is just a marketing ploy.

IQ?... Testosterone?... are you kidding.

It's just a savoury spread. What's more, it is an acquired taste. Not everybody likes it.

Vegemite is good for you because it has a lot of vitamin B in it and it is extremely low in fat. Apparently American stores have banned the sale of Vegemite but I brought some in for some friends last time I was travelling and had no probs with customs. If you want some have your friend send or bring it to you, otherwise you could try the international stores at Santa Monica.

As for boosting IQ or testosterone levels I think your friend is having a joke, we like to do that ;)

"I'm a happy little vegemite as bright as bright can be!"

Why do you think Australian children sing that dittie! It's because they slap vegemite on toast for breakfast lunch and dinner.... (tea, in fact). Of course it raises testosterone. It is chock-a-block full of vitamin B which induces metablism and thereby provides energy from the bodies fat reserves... which you burn through running around happy all day... and that exercise my friends... induces more testosterone in adult men.

Of course, the higher IQ goes without saying. Australians were the only Country smart enough to invent and enjoy vegemite as a nationwide food ... when you think of it like that it sort of speaks for itself really doesn't it! That's why we feed it to our children on hot buttered toast every day. I had some this morning and my testosterone levels are through the roof!

As for San diego, I heard the USA took it off their market because vegemite was interfering with the double arches big breakfast menu sales. Those multi-nationals rule the world economy.

BTW.. it is nothing like marmite. I wouldn't feed marmite to my cat!

Absolutely true! Vegemite is quite near the perfect food! Made from brewer's yeast, it has wonderful health-promoting qualities and is full of vitamins and nutrients. It makes one smarter and more charming; just look at me!

As for its manly properties, just so you know, Viagra is unknown in Australia... ;)

Joking? I'm deadly serious when it comes to Vegemite! Look how well it's done by me! :)

Edit: I just checked online and saw that Cost Plus in San Diego is still carrying Vegemite.

I have to say until Men At Work, I never heard of Vegemite. I think they more or less made it a little popular in the U.S. I know this is not an answer but I just had to comment on the memory

UGH. Have you tried it? LOL, sorry, maybe you'd think it's fantastic, but.... oh man. Just remembering it later made me feel sick for YEARS - my first grade teacher gave us some on graham crackers, and I thought it was nutella. Yuck, yuck, yuck!

Okay, sorry - um, that sounds pretty questionable to me. I think they're just trying to justify eating that stuff! I don't know if it's a sure-thing in the supermarkets around you, but just recently I've seen it on shelves - by the peanut butter and nutella. I think it cropped up last year at Albertson's in the san bernadino valley - so check around, maybe you've got it too!

Yucky - well, hope you enjoy it! :P

I don't know if it would raise your I.Q or testosterone, but it does contain thiamine and Vitamin B which are both good for your brain, it also contains floride which is good for your teeth, I heard they banned it from being imported over their because they don't allow flouride in the food. but www.greataussiefood.com.au delivers it worldwide.
