I am wondering what other pet owners do to correct and stop this. I heard of a product called Angel Eyes that is a powder and you put it on their food every day. It's supposed to stop the tearing. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I wash her face every day, and it has lightened but she tears every day and her face gets very, very wet. I changed from tap water to filtered water, and that seems to have helped some. I would like to get rid of the stains all together.

If you check back, I talked to the vet today and he said one of the two ingredients in Angel Eyes is actually an antibiotic like tetracycline and I could use it if I wanted to but would have to continue using it forever if I wanted it to continue working. Thanks all, but I can only choose one.

My Shih Tzu does the same thing, I use a warm wash cloth about every other day on her face with only water & it does fairly well. If it needs something else I use Renew contact lens solution on a square cosmetic pad just barely wet after I have washed with a warm wash cloth. Then wipe with wash cloth again after the Renew. Most pet stores have eye cleaning goodies, & I think I tried them all & decided I like plain ole warm water & Renew better.

Not heard about Angel Eyes, but when I ask my vet a few years ago about stuff to stop tearing he told me not to use things like that, to only use something gentle to wash the stain away as dogs need to tear as this is how they got moisture to their eyes & if they quit tearing they might get eye ulcers, dry eyes etc.

never heard of that - but there is a product in the pet store-i don't know the name but it's a liquid type substance to wash away the stains. i don't think it would be wise to stop the tearing making the eyes to dry. i'd call a vet and ask him.

There's a special medicine to the tear stains. Order a dog magazine and it will tell you.

Angel eyes does work, but before you go and buy it, just gently rub underneath their eyes with a towel that only has water on it

Take a wash rag and dampen it a little and wash her face everyday for a while, she'll naturally start washing her face with her paws and it'll keep it off... :]

this happens when the dog is sad ofcorse.you should just get a towel with water on it and gently rub on it and it would come off.
