if you are 18+ and in generally good health I can offer a few tips. If you are under 18 then please just listen to what your parents tell you. If you have serious health issues then please talk with your Dr. I am new to the vegetarian lifestyle and so far I love it, everyday is an adventure in learning are eating. To begin with I made a commitment in private to become a vegetarian and when I did it felt right. I then began to take steps to create the change. I didn't just quit all at once it is more of a daily reaffirmation. Go to the library and check out vegetarian cookbooks and any other books on the subject that you find interesting. Change the way you buy your groceries, buy less and less meat until you don't buy any at all. I am what is considered an ovo-lacto vegetarian. I still eat eggs (only cage-free) and dairy products (only from local dairy's where I can see the farms). Some ovos eat meat by products like gelatin or bone meal and use leather/suede products, I don't though. Eggs are as far as I go. try slowly eliminating meat from your diet if it is easier for you and stay in touch with others who feel the same way you do, their support is valuable. The internet is a great source for info try ask.com Take a vitamin supplement like One A Day and in addition to vegetables and fruits eat lots of grains like cereal, rice, bread, and pasta. Beans and nuts are very good for you too.
I hope this has been some help and welcome to the wonderful world of Vegetarians!
Update: After writing this yesterday I started feeling guilty so now I will enter the next phase and start eliminating eggs from my diet.

Well, first, stop eating meat--all animal flesh. Vegetarians do NOT eat fish.
Watch out for gelatin, rennet in cheese, and other ways animals sneak into your food (fish sauce in the stir fry, anyone).
Don't worry about protein. As long as you eat a varied diet and enough food, you should be fine. In fact, even veg*ans get more protein than they really need. Eat a variety of fruits, veggies, nuts, grains, and beans/pulses, and you should be just fine.
Check out www.vrg.org for nutrition information, www.cok.net to get a vegetarian starter guide, and www.vegweb.com for recipes.
Good luck!

Do your research. Google for information. Read books. That's all I can offer. When people are so dependent on meat, they cant think of a meal without including it and draw a blank. You will be surprised. Go make some spaghetti with some homemade garden tomato sauce..it's vegetarian.

,i've got not got any techniques, i'm not a real vegetarian because of the fact I do eat fish. Animals weren't positioned in this earth to be eaten, they have terrible lives and dreadful deaths, because of the fact maximum human beings opt to eat them. Its barbaric. next time your sense like ingesting slightly lamb or a calf, think of them romping around a container and then being killed to supply a meal.

Maybe, if you want it to be gradual, then start off avoiding just like red meat and continue to eat poutlry like chicken and stuff. Maybe do some research, get some books and a healthy vegetarian diet or recipes.

Go to the ALF website. It'll teach you why you should go veg. Some videos to watch are on the Peta website. After you watch those videos all your cravings will magically be gone. Youll never want meat again.

start off with cutting out red meats, and then go whole hog ! ( no pun intended ) i became a vegetarian this way, but make sure you do plenty of research on other ways to get protien, because it is easy to not get enough when you're a vegetarian. good luck !

well first thing you wanna do, is go online and search for the nutrition you need.
search for the way you are gonna get it.
next you want to slowly cut out meat.
going stragiht, "cold turkey", is very difficult.
start by taking out red(cow.) or white meat.(chicken, fish.)
after you are sure that you dont need this meat anymore, then work on slowly taking out the rest of it.
after you realize you dont need the meat, then it will be easier to quit altogether.
make sure you check what you are going to eat to get the nutrition you need.
if you only eat like, fruits and, veggies, then you will make yourself sick.
you need to do your research first.
GOOD LUCK. :))

Read the story of Daniel in the OT. Daniel and his friends refused the king's diet. Because they chose the correct and healthy diet, they excelled in every aspect of their life.

Honestly, visit a slaughter house/butcher if there is one in your area. (where slaughter is actually done)
Then consider the fact that you're eating flesh...
You could always visit www.meetyourmeat.com
That'll definately inspire you..... :o)
Good Luck!! It won't take long before you're feeling so much better...even though you may have thought you felt great anyway. :o)
