How did the son become a citizen if the mother isn't?

2007-08-20 08:05:47 · 11 answers · asked by Naturescent 4 in Politics & Government Immigration

Why would a birth by an illegal make a child legal? They are unable to care for themselves until they are adults and belong with their parents.

The anchor baby law is nothing more than an excuse to let illegals in.

The 14th amendment was for slaves to become citizens after the Civil War. It has nothing to do with illegals. Illegals try to change everything to benefit themselves regardless of who they hurt in the process.

From the 14th Amendment:
Every Person born within the limits of the United States, and subject to their jurisdiction, is by virtue of natural law and national law a citizen of the United States. This will NOT, of course, INCLUDE persons born in the United States who are FOREIGNERS, ALIENS, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the Government of the United States, but will include every other class of persons.

yes its about time that she got deported. i'm mexican and i am glad that she got deported. she was an illegal immigrant and had no to demand rights that were not hers to begin with. she is a very selfish person, using her son as a means to stay here.

That law also was for the convenience of LEGAL immigrants who have children here. So that they would not have to return to their country and file for that child and wait the time, pay the fees, etc. The child is born here, the parents were assumed legal immigrants, so the law was for the child to be an automatic citizen without all the fuss. The law was not for the intent to get around other laws on immigration.

The 14th Amendment. The purpose of the amendment is to prevent laws denying citizenship based on race, religion, or other forms of discrimination in the guise of denying citizenship based on the citizenship of the victim's ancestors.

However, there is no reason for such young citizens to act as 'anchors.' The rights of the parents to thier children should trump the right of the nation to it's citizens: they should be able to take thier children home with them. And, as I understand it, they can do just that. 'Breaking up families' is a non-issue.

Who had the moral authority in these cases? Where is justice?

Clearly the law needs to be changed,

I just don't see how anyone could be for seperating a child from a parent.

"How did the son become a citizen if the mother isn't?"

its the law. When your born on US land, your a citizen. i dont think its a bad thing cuz the US doesnt really belong to anyone (any one race), so the people who are born here can say they are American. Cuz thats what America is, a land made up of different races, not alot of countries can say that.

I'm so pleased that they got rid of that crazy bit*h! No one that is that stupid should be allowed to rear a child. She's obviously crazy as a loon, that kid deserves a break from delusion, false entitlement, and terror. No real mother would use her child like that!

Is that what is considered being a good mother? If it is,I'd hate to see what a bad mother is.
