I have an 8-month old spayed Calico female kitten. She is usually a loving and tame cat, but lately she is becoming aggressive. She won't stop biting and scratching me and my husband. We've tried telling her "NO", we've tried squirting her with water.

How can we train her to stop doing this? My husband says if she keeps this up we will have to get rid of her but I don't want to do that because I am attached to her. She has been here most of her life, from 7 weeks old on.

What tips can you give me to get her to stop this nasty behaviour?

She is healthy and well-fed and does not have any health problems. We treat her very well and she is well taken care of. We do not hit her except for an occasional (light) swat on the head or bum. She is otherwise a happy and content cat.

My cat was spayed at 6 months old, before she ever went into heat. So that is not the problem. I'm not sure what is.

getting them declawed is probably a good idea but i would say just giving them a firm tap on their nose when their getting too close to biting or scratching.

if the kitty is purring and niping or rythmically clawing you then its a sign of contentment. the biting is a playful move and the kneeding is a happy/sleepy habit that almost all cats have.

she needs to be spayed. she's coming of age, and that makes them very volatile and bitchy. the sooner you spay her the better, so that you don't have to spend time undoing bad behavior.
