Given the state of the world, if there is indeed an omnipotent being who is responsible for creation, then it seems as if this being does really like us all that much.

I have to admit that I had an agenda. I wanted to see if the Christians among us could resist responding with that antiquated “Jesus loves us all” rhetoric that has been spoon fed to them since birth. They couldn’t. Alas, ask a stupid question……………

Nice try, but accepting a God I despise won't work for me. The issue has always been only whether God actually exists in objective reality. How I feel about Him/Her is completely irrelevant. The truth is I don't actually hate God, but only the human suffering the persistent false belief in Him/Her engenders.

Hah! I did the opposite a few years ago, gave up on my anger and felt relieved to just completely write-off the existance of a god. But, the truth is, no one really knows for sure. I have to conceed that.

Why would I abandon something I believe to be true in order to dislike a being I don't believe in? That makes no sense. It's true that if there is a God who created everything, he's either evil or incompetent, but that's reason to disbelieve.

Atheists do not betray atheism...but it's a free country, so I guess I might as well accept and go drink the 6-pack of Budweiser my wife just bought me.

In Revelation Jesus said that it would be better not to believe at all, then to be lukewarm in your belief. So accepting God and disliking Him would not be good at all. If you realize why you are accepting God you would LOVE HIM- Jesus died for all of us , so that we could have a loving relationship with Him. God does not like us that much? How much more"like" do you need/ HIS SON WAS NAILED TO THE CROSS TO SAVE US FROM SIN.

As an atheist doing that would be like hating superman and accepting it (though you see more of supes than any god).
Just do whatever you like. I'd rather put my hate to good use.

That sound like a great idea ... start believing in Zeus, but refer to him as "Zeus the jerk". You'd probably seem crazy because people know that if Zeus heard you say that, he'd throw a lightning bolt at you.

I think that's a pretty lame suggestion. How can I dislike something that's a myth? This is like asking me to dislike leprechauns. It doesn't make any sense.

If there was evidence that pointed to the existence of a Deity, then I would change my mind, as there is none this is highly unlikely.
