I have had depression, general anxiety and social anxiety for most of my life.
It is only now that I am older that I realise what my problems are.
Every area of my life is severely affected.
Please could I have some advice on dealing with these issues, although one part of me would like to heal another is thinking that this wont change and I am getting close to giving up.
Thank you

A combination of therapy (to learn skills to deal with the depression and anxiety) and medication (to lessen the effects of the depression and anxiety). There is a great life waiting for you just around the bend. I had many of the same problems for years and self medicated with alchohol. Finally when that got so out of control I went to rehab and they finally got me the help I had needed for years and didn't even know. I just thought me and my life sucked. It took a while to get the right medication (NO THEY ARE NOT ADDICTIVE!) and find the right therapist but it was well worth the effort. Be proactive (even though its hard when your feeling like this) and do a little research and work each day and soon you'll not recognize the happy confident person you see in the mirror.

Have you tried medical marijuana?
They do give perscriptions for anxiety. It helps.
I find having an object, like a pendant or charm, in tough situations to concentrate on helps a lot. Something you can figit with a little or something that turns. Little bit of magic.
I always make excuses to go to the bathroom or look in a mirror to center myself.
If you don't smoke. Get out of social situations by asking to go out to get some fresh air.
If you are "housebound". At least start by opening a window.
Avoid stimmulants and depressants like:
Caffeine, Nicotine, Alcohol, and maybe even Marijuana,
Get exercise and drink more water. If your body isn't working properly how can your brain.
Don't expect to be "cured", it is after all a natural part of being human. But it's important to take the valleys and the mountains.
Moving furniture, and artwork (new stuff on the walls or painting yourself) helps a lot in a habitat way.
Good luck.

You have to believe that you are going to be fine. Have you consult with your doctor or therapist? You sound really down and I'm concerned. I've had depression and I know how you feel. The days were so long and I was crying everyday. I needed direction and I had no where to go. What helped me get back on track was to build my self-esteem and find someone to talk to. Are you seeing a therapist? It really helps. Another thing I did was that I tried not to think too much. Take a deep breath and go walk or do anything that make you not to focus on thinking. Don't even think about the past. Everyone has regret or some thoughts about past. So don't think about it. Trust me, back then I thought I wouldn't make it, but now I'm in a much much better place and it also gives me confident that I can get over the hard times in life. I'm so sorry that you are feeling depressed, and I'm really sad to hear that. But please remember, you are not alone and you can always talk to someone. You don't have to fight all alone. Please don't walk away from hope and don't give up; this might be the hardest thing in your life, but after you cope with it, you are going to be fine. Trust me and trust yourself. Whatever you feel depressed, we are here for you. Hang on and please ask someone for help. You don't deserve to feel alone.

First realize you are a person of great worth, second try to pinpoint what may have or be causing the depression, and anxiousness. ie family friends, work etc.. Then when you have contemplated on it. Try to recieve counseling on the issues that are at the root of the problem. 18 million persons in the usa go through depression in 1 year and those are the only ones reported (estimated) Third DO NOT let anyone get you to believe you are not a person of great worth.

you want to live right?why?Your sole aim in life should be to be happy.when u feel sad,try and find happiness in the most trivial of things because remember u are here to be happy.whatever problems that u have in life remember that u are a fighter and u will never give up.social anxiety is because u are afraid of people judging u.Don't be.Who cares of what others think about u?what matters is what u think about yourself.take only that advice which is good so that u can become a better person but always remember that u have your limitations as a human being.

I know exactly what you are saying, One day I realized that I used to be the center of my life I was always right and never doubted myself. Then I lost my identity after something that happened in my life. I realized that things will never be the same. But I always remember this saying. Imagination Life is YOUR Creation! Just think about it you create your life in every way. And when I am going through an deep depression I just say this too shall pass. And I get through it because I know I can. I hope that this helps you.

I have anxiety depression and have been trying an alternative therapy called Emotional Freedom Technique and it has really worked for me and helped me a lot. Since using it I have been feeling a lot better. It's very good at getting rid of all kinds of negative emotions and dealing with all kinds of issues quickly. It does sound bizarre but does work. Might be something that can help you.

I don't have any advice for you, but I just wanted you to know that you are not alone. I've been self-medicating with alcohol for a very long time. It helps but in the long run I'm sure it is just hurting me. I'm hoping someone will post some good advice here.
