Going to the doctor tomorrow, I think I'm having an outbreak right now, from what I've read.

I feel nauseated, stressed, and feel very itchy where the bumps have formed on my penis. But my legs have gotten red and itchy as well.

Is it a problem to scratch at it?

Also, what are the best over the counter medicines to take? Something a 17 year old can buy at Wal-Mart (wal-mart only, no wal-greens or other places avaliable)

If it is genital herpes, or even genital warts (caused by HPV) it is a BAD idea to scratch them. Scratching will only make them worse and can possibly spread the virus even more.

There are NO anti viral medications you can buy over the counter. You'll need to get a prescription from your doctor for some antiviral medication. You CAN buy pain medication from over the counter though, like some Ibuprofen for the pain or acetaminophen (Tylenol) if you have a fever.

When I was first diagnosed with genital herpes at the age of 17, I was in so much pain that my doctor prescribed me Vicodin along with the antiviral medications acyclovir and famciclovir. I could hardly walk or even sit down I was in so much pain and I missed school and work for 2 days.

Good luck!

Genital herpes:
A common infection caused by the herpes simplex virus type 2 or type 1.
Type 1 is commonly acquired through oral sex, while type 2 is transmitted through sexual intercourse.
Symptoms include small blisters in the genital area which rapidly break down to leave painful ulcers.
Other symptoms include pain or difficulty in passing urine. Some patients may develop headache and fever.
Herpes infection during late pregnancy is potentially dangerous to the baby during labour.
Herpes is a life-long chronic condition which cannot be cured.
However, there are antiviral drugs available which can reduce the severity of symptoms.
While herpes is not life-threatening, and not all people who have it suffer from outbreaks, those who do experience outbreaks find that topical medication as Zovirax ointment eases the pain and can help speed recovery when blisters appear.
Complications of Genital Herpes:-
* recurrent disease (common)
* encephalitis (rare)
* spread of the virus to other organs of the body in immunosuppressed people
* transverse myelopathy (damage that extends across the spinal cord)
* incontinence

why don't people take the advice that their parent's give them. wear condoms sex should only be when your married. Now you have to be careful you don't pass it on. Talk to your parent's about this you are still under age and needs to listen to them. I hope you get taken to the doctors and get tested to get the right treatment for it do not get nothing over the counter if you don't know the problem. And when you find out what it is and it does not sound healthy i hope you know the person who passed it on to you so you can bring it to her attention. people can get in trouble passing sexually transmitted diseases this is your body and should care for it and if people were to use protection the spread of infections would be smaller.
good luck!
