your best bet is to ask a doctor of course, but the only thing i can think might happen would be that your sugar levels might go low if you sleep too long. my son, who is a diabetic, has a lot of allergies and takes benedryl every night before bed, he sleeps really good but sometimes gets a low sugar and sleeps right through it whereas if he wasn't "drugged" he'd wake up and realize he was getting low and drink some juice.

I take Diazepam (Valium-10mg.) every night for my pain. I am a type 2 diabetic also and it does not effect me at all. Basically, it helps me to go to sleep and I feel okay in the morning. But I take all kinds of pills for high blood pressure, cholesterol, etc. and I have been taking all this stuff with my Dr.'s orders. I have a good Dr. I've been a diabetic since 1993. I eat right and all that other stuff that goes with it. You could start out with 5 mg. of Valium (generic brand is Diazepam). Anyhow, good luck with your diabetes!

With the newer types of insulin these days, diabetic diets aren't necessarily as restrictive as they used to be. Read here https://tr.im/jylFQ
As with any medicine or diet change, you should discuss it with your doctor. Fruits, both fresh and dried, have a natural sugar in them that will raise blood sugar levels, so be careful about eating too much. Not sure about the nuts. Moderation is always the key. I've been diabetic for 18 years and just recently changed insulin types. I love it because it gives me more freedom in when and what I eat.
