Diabetics should pick carbohydrates with low glycemic index. Low GI food releases glucose slowly. Brown rice and parboiled rice are the best. Basmati rice is better than long grain rice, which is better than Calrose rice.

Rye bread is better than wheat bread. Pumpernickel bread is the best. Diabetics should also eat a lot vegetables and beans, and cut down on animal fat.

I learned I was a type II about 18 months ago. I went out and bought over a dozen books on the subject and read them cover to cover. I've even re-read one three times. The one book I found most informative, understandable and helpful is Diabetes for Dummies. I'm not normally a "for Dummies" fan but this one hit the mark. It's written by a bay area Endocrinologist who breaks it all down into very digestible parts. Plus you can review whenever you want unlike the onslaught of information you just got from the dietitian, nurse, doctor, etc... My doctor did give me some simple eating guidelines that I turned into a simple phrase he now uses with his other diabetes patients: Avoid the whites (Sugar, White Flour, White Rice, Potatoes, etc... Carbs) Avoid the meats with fur Eat the meats with Feathers and Fins I also walk 30 minutes a day 4 - 5 times a week. You should soon get information as to your A1C percentage. This is an average of your blood sugar over a 3 - 4 month period. Mine was 9.9% when I was diagnosed. Normal is below 6% and an "in control" diabetic is below 7%. Following those rules and taking metformine twice a day I got my A1C down to 5.9% in just a few months. Your BG (Blood Glucose) was higher than mine to start but you will find that if you make some changes, it can drop quickly.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.

Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

Well, I know that rice isn't great but if you count the carbs in a serving and add to the carb count for the meal, why can't you have it? That is what I was told, i could have whatever I wanted but had to be in the guidelines I was given for carb count for each meal.

Starches are broken down by your body into pure glucose (sugar).

Neither are a good idea. If you absolutely must have grains (bad idea) stick with whole ones like oats.
