Trader Joe's is my favorite place to shop for food, a really good selection of vegetarian stuff & great prices. There's a lot of cruelty-free products too & TJ's is where we get most of our shampoo, conditioner etc.
*And* I don't get a funny look when I bring my own bags.

There aren't any Trader Joes over here, the closest thing to that would be Whole Foods. I don't shop at Whole Foods though because everything is over priced plus I'd have to drive a long way to get to one. I can find everything I need at local stores, I just have to go to a few.

Yesterday I went grocery shopping and went to four different stores to get everything done. Mainly I shop at this Asian grocery store, Hong Kong, but I also go to Krogers, WalMart, and Fiesta. They each carry different vegan friendly items. It would be nice if they were all in one store, but I don't mind driving around since they're all close to each other.

Vegans and vegetarians love roasted pork? Your stupid joke won't work on someone who's fluent in Tagalog.

I sometimes go to Trader Joes..it's not in my town though so I go if I have other business to do in that town. I can find plenty of vegetarian foods at all the big supermarkets around me plus there is a Natural Food Store about 2 miles away.

I shop at different stores to get the best prices. First I go to Walmart for the staples like Silk, Veggie Burgers and anything organic that Walmart carries. They are typically cheaper then any other store. Next I go to Publix for organic produce, Recycled paper products and dish and laundry soap. These are items Walmart doesn't have. (They do have produce, but not a great selection and it usually doesn't look that great). For anything else that I can't find at those 2 stores such as brown rice syrup, egg replacer and bulk grains I go to the nearest co-op which is about a 20 minute drive or Wild Oats which is about a 45 minute drive. Wish they were closer, cause I would do most of my shopping there.

I shop my local Henry's, because of the large bulk section (everything cheaper when not prepackaged). I found Whole Foods has more of a vegan selection amongst their cheeses, already made salads and food items, and a greater organic selection. but pricey. Trader Joe's I've been to a couple of times, but my local one is very small so I don't have a large selection, but do go for a couple items I know are cheaper!

Well I shop at a few different stores. First I hit up my local fruit and vegetable grocery store, basically stock up on fruits, vegetables, nuts, etc. Organic stuff there is actually cheaper than chain stores, where you pay for the prestige and name of it, like Whole Foods (Trader Joe's is an exception, because though limited, their organic produce is very affordable).

I then go to Super Target, where they have an extensive Grocery add-on to the store, and I buy prepared and frozen and refridgerated foods (like organic breads , oatmeals, cereals, "Tv dinners" like Boca burgers, Amy's Kitchen meals, etc.) They have an organic Archer's Farm generic line that is comparable to stuff that's sometimes twice it's price at chain stores.

I also buy all-organic baby food at Target, very, very affordably.

I generally avoid buying organic, vegan-friendly produce and products at places like Jewel-Osco/Albertson's and Dominick's/Safeway . . . they are marked up excessively, usually 2 - 5 dollars more per item than Super Target.

Afterwards, I supplement what I couldn't get at Target with stores like Trader Joe's (their ready-made Vegetable Jambalayas and vegan Lentil-Rice Biryani, for instance, are to die for), as well as a huge selection of salad blends and delicious pastas. But I only supplement there, as they don't have everything I need, and the variety I strive for in my diet. Also, Trader Joe's is a bit pricy on some things.

*shrugs* It is not like she bought a whole cart full of junk food. (Some people out there will do that.) Maybe she is eating healthy but treats herself to a single chocolate bar snack every night. What if a skinny person walked out with a 6 pack of chocolate bars and a soda? Is it OK because they are skinny? For all you know, they could be a diabetic who won't eat a proper diet and is starting to lose feeling in their extremities. Being overweight myself, this is why I get so paranoid buying food and eating out. If I buy junk food, people will think "It figures." If I fill my cart up with healthy food, people will think "Yeah, like you are going to lose any weight. Good luck! Haha!" No win situation. FYI: That something else you couldn't see may have been a bag of apples or carrots.

Unfortunately, the only store there is to shop for groceries where I live is Wal-mart.

It's not exactly my store of choice, but I would have to drive for over an hour to shop anywhere else.

whichever one has the best selection of veggies silly. right now... H.E.B. does where I live. Or if I need something special, central market.
I'm still scared to go to the Whole foods in downtown Austin that they just redid... I may never leave if I go in there...lol
