You COULD say that you are allergic to soy and nuts, but really, you should just be honest and tell the acquaintance the real reason you don't want to go (dislike legumes or certain vegetables for instance or cannot eat spicy foods). But you never know, maybe you should try going just once - you might actually find something you like, even if you are not a vegetarian. For instance, I am not a vegetarian, but I love eggplant parmesan and swimming rama (when served mild).

Believe it or not, vegetarians eat at "normal" restaurants, too. Have you never looked at a menu (or do you just stop looking when you get to "cheeseburger"?) Almost every restaurant has meatless meals so we don't exclusively go to vegetarian restaurants to begin with. If your new acquaintance knows you're not veg he may ask you to go to a restaurant you'll be more comfortable eating at. If he knows you're here showing your ignorance and hostility toward vegetarians, he probably won't be asking you out at all.

Gee you have qualities that make a good friend dont you? Why dont you just say " I am biggoted and unwilling to try new things and no I dont want to go to your smelly vegetarian restraunt and I have been losing sleep on how to get out of this unwanted invitation. But in the end honesty is the best policy and so no shove the offer where the sun dont shine. Why can't you be a normal person and eat dead animal then I would have dinner with you!!". That should well and truly get what you want!! Good luck!!

I'm guessing this is probably a joke poking fun at vegetarians and vegans who fake allergies to make sure they don't accidentally eat meat or other animal products.
On the off chance it isn't, just be honest, and don't eat meals together. I do have a couple of friends who feel they *have* to eat lots of meat, every meal, whereas I'm vegan and there's nothing for me at the average BBQ place/steakhouse, so we just don't eat out together or it's a pain in the butt for both of us. We go to arcades, parks, etc. - something not food related.

It's quite rare to be allergic to multiple food items. Eggs maybe but veggie restaurants have plenty of food without eggs for the vegans. Many veggies restaurants also serve chicken and fish so don't be such a kiljoy.l You *might* actually find something you like. They eat cheese ya know, how about a grilled cheese? or a salad? Or good veg soup? or pasta? or chili?

Just tell them that you're allergic to new experiences.
But I went to vegetarian restaurant with a veg friend when I was still an omnivore and discovered the food was pretty darn tasty.
You will live if you have one meatless meal. Really.

yeah, soy, tofu, they dont serve eggs as that is an animal, i would say you are allergic to clorophyll. But dont eat anything green around your friend, i wonder if its even possible to be allergic to that . . .
PS i looked it up, you can have an intolerance to it . . .but reading other people's answers . . . assuming you are trying to impress a boy why start the relationship off like that? Also, some vegitarian food is actually really good, I hate health food but raw veggies and even tofurky is really pretty good, plus those people can make soups that are amazing . . .

You are an idiot and NOT a friend. Do you ask him or her to regular restaurants?
You are very close minded and should atleast try a vegetarian restaurant, think you can have something like lasgne without meat and go home and eat your steak.

Say you have an ethical problem with eating vegetables and you don't sleep cos you can hear their silent screams.
If he even walks towards a vegetarian restaurant start freaking out and look "haunted".
