wow... i can't believe how rude these posters are!!! It's a life choice! The asker didn't deny that meat tasted good and you don't know what sort of protein they get in their diet!!! Argh!!! How frustrating!!!!!!! (Sorry! That just really ticks me off!!)
To answer your question - explain to this person AGAIN that you are a vegetarian and why you have chosen this lifestyle. If they can't respect that, then find activities with this person that does not involve food. And if they give you a hard time, maybe they aren't someone you want to hang around with much.... Regardless, I would not put them in the position to be in control of what you eat!!! Either eat out or invite them over to your place!

I don't think you really have to worry about it. I am a vegetarian who had accidentally eaten meat before too. I ate some pizza that had the pepperoni under the cheese. I didn't get physically sick, it was just a weird feeling I had for a while. If it wasn't that much you should be fine. I realized I was eating meat 2 bites into the slice, so I just gave the piece to my sister. If you think the person gave you meat intentionally, confront them, and from now on please ask them to tell you if there is meat in the food. If you worry about it too much, it will make you sick, which isn't good, so just be careful when you eat other people's food from now on and you should do fine! : )

One thing I have learned since becoming a vegetarian is to be patient. As you can see from the responses here there are many people opposed to this life choice *sighs* I would explain to the person who made the dinner, assuming they were fully aware of what they were doing, that I didn't appreciate their actions and to please not repeat them. If they can't respect your decision then maybe it's best not to associate with this person, if that's an option. At any rate talk with them about this, find out for sure why they did it. Some people do have adverse effects from eating meat after being a vegan for a long time.

Don't have a cow man (pun intended).
Ask yourself why are you a vegetarian, and then ask yourself based on that answer how did eating meat this one time negatively affect you.
Are you a vegetarian because you don't like the taste of meat? Probably not, or you would have spit out the first bite.
Are you a vegetarian because you want a healthy diet and/or are concerned w/ possible harmful side effects of eating meat? One serving of meat will probably have a negligible impact to your health, so I would say don't worry about it.
Are you a vegetarian because you are concerned about humane treatment of animals? In this case, you did it unknowingly, and the animal was already dead and prepared for consumption. You shouldn't feel any guilt over that.
Are you a vegetarian because it is trendy? Again, you did it unknowingly, so you can still call yourself a vegetarian and be trendy.

This has happened to me before. I was upset at first, but realized there wasn't anything I could do about it. Afterwards, I just made sure I ate really clean and drank a lot of water. I guess in the future I wouldn't eat anything that this person made again.

The worst thing that could happen is you feel a little sick. As for feeling guilty...well, it wasn't a concious choice so don't feel too bad! You didn't mean to. :)
The person that served it to you may have forgotten, my parents do it all the time.

Its fine. You didn't mean to eat the meet, and you are still a vegetarian. Talk to this person about why you are pissed at them, or just simply avoid eating at their house again.

I wouldn't trust them to make dinner for me again.
It doesn't change anything.

It was an accident, get over it. Now you know to be careful when other people prepare food for you.
Also, vegetarian*
