Should diabetics limit their dairy products consumption?

Also, besides sugars, carbs, alcohol, and starchy foods, are there any other foods or beverages that diabetics should stay away from?

best way to see if dairy products affect your diabetes is to check BG level, eat or drink a serving of that food, wait 2 hours and then check BG level again. Journal all of this, including amounts of the food or drink.

If the second BG check shows you more than 180, you should leave it alone.

Dairy products other than cheese give me a big problem!! I rarely have milk, cottage cheese, yogurt, that sort of thing. Especially the low fat ones send my BG to the moon!

Do be sure to have a little bit of dark chocolate every day! It helps your attitude toward life!!

With the newer types of insulin these days, diabetic diets aren't necessarily as restrictive as they used to be. Read here https://tr.im/CVhUv
As with any medicine or diet change, you should discuss it with your doctor. Fruits, both fresh and dried, have a natural sugar in them that will raise blood sugar levels, so be careful about eating too much. Not sure about the nuts. Moderation is always the key. I've been diabetic for 18 years and just recently changed insulin types. I love it because it gives me more freedom in when and what I eat.

fruit juices are bad because they are pure sugar. you can drink one once in awhile but that could be saved for low sugar readings. starchy foods are rice and potatoes and corn. alchol is very bad and it can mess you up big time. if you want 1 glass of wine a year go for it. dairy products are fine but you have to limit all. you cann't eat alot of anything just mix it around. diet sodas you can drink sugarless drinks lots on the market. water is the best for you tea an dcoffe is great but high in cafine.

Anything you eat will effest your blood sugar. dairy products in moderation are not bad for you. In moderation because dairy products have a lot of sugar in them. Even fat free milk has 12 grams of sugar per serving in it, just like regular milk. So the key is moderation.

Calcium is needed for healthy teeth, bones and gums. Diabetics sometimes have problems in those areas so if you cut out dairy products you will probably need to supplement with calcium.

There is not one food on this planet that people with diabetes cannot eat.

Count your carbs[ as usual ], know how to adjust your medication, portions and exercises.

Enjoy.

For sugar-free pudding, try 6oz low-carb (4 grams) vanilla yogurt and water as a substitute for milk.
