Also, canker sores are NOT herpes. Canker sores are ulcers INSIDE the mouth and are NOT contagious like cold sores. Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus and they ARE contagious.

I've heard that too. Oral herpes is also known as cold sores NOT canker sores (those are inside the mouth as cold sores are on the lips). Genital herpes: 1 in 5 for men and 1 in 4 for women ...is what I've read- somewhere in prominant herpes sites on line.

yap, its true, and the numbers r higher than that, i have a canker sore,its from a bad tooth, sometimes i think its herpes, but it doesnt bun or itch. herpes has been a irritating problem, for many years, its now getting out of control.

There's more than one type.
most people have had canker sores at time or other in
their lives (herpes)
and there are folks that have contacted in other than sexual
alliances.
don't think it's rightly cast as an STD
