I think it is about time we created a new religion. The last one created was Jedi I think but that was over 20 years ago.

Can you suggest things that I should add to the religion ? (nothing stupid like drinking beer for breakfast) I dont like the idea of christian sermons but I think christmas parties are pretty cool. The idea of not drinking in muslim views is a good one but not total prohibition.
I wonder if we need a persona to follow. Mohammed and Jesus had their day but maybe thinking of giving Kylie Minogue a go or even the crankies.

and none of this cult stuff either. Catholic/muslim Terrorists extremists have no place in this church/temple/sinagog. BTW what can we call the meeting place. I am thinkning tavern but maybe you have a better name ?

If I may add my own ideas.
I think food has to be included. Good food that is good for the body and mind,
Respecting time is critical since we have such a small amount and we need to treasure it more than gold

Sorry but the easter bunny is out.
I suspect this was a marketing ploy to sell more rabbit eggs.

I totally agree that religion is one of the biggest causes of strife in the world. It is not the idea that two religions fighting each other but more that the fighter has an afterlife.
I sometimes suspect religion was created so the king and emperor could have an army that werent afraid of death. If they were killed they knew they would go to heaven or valhalla or starbucks.

At the centre of the beliefs are
1) That the finite time we have in this life is to be treasured above all things.
2) We value time both for ourselves and those around us.
3) The temple/church is within ourselves. The body is the most sacrid of places.
4) We respect our bodies and we respect the bodies of those around us.

Notes on above - We avoid eating and drinking crap. Alcohol is fine but not to the point it damages us or can endager those around us.
In valueing time we try to live for the moment for ourselves but we also help those less fortunate. The disabled for example.

You can propound an idea or a cult but strictly speaking a religion is meant to pave a path towards will of GodSatan has undertaken and committed himself to oppose and distracting any prophet propogating the message of God.As you have no such mandate neither you shall be opposed by the Satan nor shall get an acknowledgement or response from the public as holy prophets Jesus and Muhammad got. What new or useful programme have you got?Instead of of embarking upon this stupid exercise you should engage your talents to study the real Islam. No religion from God has taught intolerance or terrorism at all because all the human beings are flock of God;how can He give the liscence to few to annihilate the others. He always, wanted everyone to come under one yolk but out of free will and with devotion and sacrifices to classify the devotion and reward the sacrifices.Religions have never come into being with meetings,in open or in seclusions, it is after sustaining opposition and resistance from Satan.Since yours is not religion from God it shall not be taken seriously and die in oblivision.

Just a suggestion...... I know it has worked in the past. Change your name.... Paul is a good one..;) Go into the areas of your city or town or even venture to other cities and towns. Find the most down on your luck people. The hungry the sick the most hopeless people you can find. Tell them about your "New Religion" and how God has brought you to them. Ask them to follow you and take from them what little they have left to fill your own "pocket, ideals, ego, pitcher" but always tell them not to worry about the life they may be living now. What is a little suffering now for such a greater afterlife. You can come up with some other rules to always keep them on board (or from straying if you will).

Hope this helps... ;)

does it have to be called a religion - an ever expanding group of individuals from different races , backgrounds and belief systems converging in a place for socialising and dialogue - with a bit of made up ritual ( which could be an opening toast ' To freedom of thought and the search for truth' ) .

if you had a rule ( like the masons) that no religion is to be discussed then you open it up to a wider group without upsetting anyone.

The only requirements need be that you are willing to be part of it and that you are a person of honour and can show respect for your fellow human beings.a sense of humour would be helpful

I'm up for it but you may have to start it on-line as we are spread far and wide - at least until there's enough people for a meet.

what about a name ?

Create a new religion? that seems like a pretty good idea, quite amusing that this was all organized on the internet. I'd rather worship some tv actor and 'prayers' by listning to their music on an iPod.. than listen to an old tale of how an old man swallowed a frog. but how will you pull so many people out of their current ones? just the same way as they did but not many people like to change things.. will this really work?!

well i think the basis of any religion worth its salt (and lets be honest most have now been tainted by exteremists and nutters) needs to be based on truth, honesty and respect. was going to put in acceptance but that comes from respect of anothers veiw point. As for a meeting place the pagans had it right all along the fields and the trees have the only architecture that i can realy dig. maybe we shouldn`t concentrate on where but with who?. as a solitary person and of a faith of only one person (me) its interesting to view other faiths in a pragmatic way. its easy to poke holes in their faiths and say well thats daft but they are their faiths. What needs to be addressed with all faiths is the need to allow others to beleive their own thing not force it down the throats of the young and the weak willed and tell them if they turn their backs on it then the are going to hell or eternal damnation. if the faith is truely rightous and worth following then it should be able to stand on its own without the threats of retribution if you stop following it. my faith is tested on a daily basis by me and is no ones elses concern but mine if someone wants to know then i explain it to the asker but thats where it stops.

any faith based on truth respect and honesty wont go far wrong as these principles cant get perverted from the original goals as has been done with most major religions.

on the other hand for fun we could start a religion that is the more fun side of things say have the religious days for partying hard spaced evenly throughout the year so you haven`t got long to wait for the next party.(pagans)
and the principles to follow say lazing late on a sunday not walking the dog on the weekend.

run out of ideas now so have fun and let us know when you`ve set up the first meeting and i`ll wish you all the best

nicely, faith is a perplexing concern to define. maximum individuals agree that a faith is a collection of ideals that a team of people shop on with. understanding this would not truly make it from now on uncomplicated to make certain if human beings created faith, or any opposite direction around. It truly relies upon on what faith you retain on with, while you're and Atheist (which includes myself), than you have faith that faith grew to become into created to supply the hundreds an information of each and every thing interior the international and how it have been given there.

The only correct religion is Christianity. That's stupid to make up a pointless religion. Maybe you should try going 2 a christian church 2 learn something.

You could try something simple like the hippies of the 70's,
'make love not war.' Most people like to make love so you should get plenty of followers, especially if the meetings are in the nude and anyone can have sex with whoever is willing.

We do not need a new religion. We need people to truly adhere to the principles in the bible. I have seen nothing in my travels to indicate that they are wrong. I have seen the strife and hatred caused by supposedly well meaning people who try to get people to believe in man made religion, i.e....Te Arontang from the Philippines

i think rebecca b is on to someting useful. we should start there. i think we need to agree to something like the 10 commandments but in view of the global problems and runaway technoly and enviromentally damaging industry, we should agree to basic rules to keep the world in one piece for awhile. just a starting point. then how to enforce the basic rules. that would be a starting point and simple.
