It could be pleurisy, which is an inflammation of the membrane surrounding the lungs. It can cause sharp pains, like if you breathe in too deeply, or even just by breathing at all. To treat it, you take ibuprofen. If a bacterial infection is the cause, you will probably need an antibiotic.

Well were you seen in emergency and examined by a physician? Did they run all the necessary tests? Or did you just go to the hosp for an xray like with a prescription. If it was the latter, all that means is that your lungs are clear. If it was the former, what did the er docs say it could be? I don't know how anyone could diagnose you here on answers, especially since your question is so vague. I'm sorry.

Chances are that this is gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
This can cause pain in the left, right chest, under the sternum and in the right shoulder, sometimes in the left. It can also cause you to have a slight cough especially first thing in the morning.
This is treatable with a medication called a proton pump inhibitor. In the early stages this condition falls into the category of indigestion but left untreated it could turn to Barret's oesophagus which is very serious.
So start with an antacid and see if that helps and discus GERD with your doctor.

As some say here it could be several things. However it sounds like digestive problems to me. Also if you are a milk drinker stop it for 7 days and see if that helps. You need enzymes as well to help with digestion. You can get those at a health food store. also pick yourself up some Aloe Vera Juice it is wonderful for all sorts of illnesses, It is a real healer.
Stop eating sugar and pastries as this can cause severe digestive problems as well. If you would like an article of Many ways that sugar is harmful, send me an email at newbegin@shaw.ca and the subject "sugar" and I will gladly send it to you.

It sounds kind of silly but it could just be indigestion, I've heard that severe cases can feel like you are having a heart attack. Or your chest muscles could be sore or strained from unusual physical activity. Also, anxiety can cause pain and discomfort in your chest.
It could be lots of different things, but i would recommend seeing a doctor as soon as possible if you are still feeling the pain! Good luck!

I had bad chest pains a few years back and they ran a lot of tests on me and they decided I had costacondritis. It's inflammation of the cartilage in the ribs. It still comes and goes today. Maybe you could ask your doctor if that could be it. There isn't anything to really do for it either. Hope you feel better!

What you describe could be a panic disorder. They often mimic heart attacks. The way to test this is to sit quietly the next time it happens and breathe slowly, if it passes in 15 minutes or less, it is probably a panic disorder.
A psychiatrist can help you learn to deal with it.
