At Subway only the Italian bread is vegan, all the others have dairy and/or honey in them. So you can order a Veggie D'lite on Italian, no cheese, all the veggies, oil&vinegar, salt&pepper. If you order a 12" tell 'em not to split it into two 6" halves during a rush, or at a slow time ask 'em to use a fresh knife (to avoid a meaty knife cutting your order).
At many Taco Bell's you can ask for "Fresco Style" with the chalupas, bean burritos and "Pinto's & cheese" (fresco style basically replaces the cheese with a pico de gallo type salsa). Just be warned that some stores insist on adding taco meat drippings to the beans! At some stores the flour tortilla have diary and/or L-cysteine.
At the other chain stores cross-contamination is just too much of a problem.

Becoming vegan was the best decision I've ever made in my short fourteen-year life.
I'm personally not a big fan of fast food, but I go on road trips a lot, and I usually end up with a salad (make sure to tell them to make it without cheese). However, I know there are some places that serve veggie burgers, and the fruit in some places can be delicious and fresh. Since chips can't be made in fat anymore, they can be a nice addition - even if they do make me feel disgustign afterwards.
I typically eat at McDonald's, Wendy's, Subway, and Burger King.
Good luck!

Its a good idea but if I'm honest, no...if I'm gonna have the burger, the cheese etc I may as well go the whole hog! I only get to have fast food takeaways about 4x a yr so I figure the amount I have it it wouldn't make much difference... Slightly off topic but when McD's launched their carrot stick bags for the kids meals instead of fries, my kids wanted them, but any time we asked they never had them...the reason they gave was because no one ever asked for them, which I thought was weird...surely if no one ever asked for them they would have some? But apparently a lot of the chains introduce these things to look good but never actually have them in if you do ask for them, so I worry the bread thing would be the same, look good and be a great idea, but hardly ever be available in the restaurant!

Chipotle has vegan options--the black beans are vegan (the pintos have meat in them). The rice is vegan. The taco shells and tortillas are vegan. The salsas and veggies are vegan.
I think the side salad and the fries at Wendy's are vegan.
Subway--only the Italian (white) bread is vegan. Order a Veggie Delight without cheese. I usually get mine with mustard. I think the Veg Max has dairy in it.
If you Google "vegan fast food," you should several websites that indicate what's vegan at various restaurants.
Nutritional information on veganism: www.vrg.org. They also have a listing of what's vegan at various chain restaurants.
Recipes: www.vegweb.org
Restaurants around the world: www.happycow.net, www.vegdining.com.
Happy Cow also lists veg-friendly grocery stores.

there are different degrees of Vegan (believe it or not) and if you are looking for something that was not grown with anything related to animal then you are in for a tough road.
Subway can give you exactly what you are looking for if you want something not egg, meat, fish, etc.

taco bell, you can replace the meat with beans on anything and tell them no cheese or sour cream.
I usually get the crunch wrap supreme with beans instead of meat, no sour cream, no cheese.
It has lettuce and tomato on it! Its really good.
