I have noticed a great deal of rudeness and oposition when non-veg people or ex vegetarians come to share their views.Life is a proccess of evolving ones beliefs. And everyone has the right to ask questions. But I find that all the vegans and vegetarians form a gang against non-veggies who ask questions on this section. They even thumb down anyone who may challenge their vegan beliefs. That is not fair and that is not spreading your message in love and peace.OK I AGREE the non-veg people can be rude at times, but you dont seem them radically protesting against veganism!there is a way of spreading a message without judgement.!Its a shame to find people worshipping animals more then treating their fellow beings with respect! think about it.AND BEFORE U ATTACK ME PLEASE KNOW I DO NOT CARE WHAT YOU THINK OF ME! THE TRUTH IS ALWAYS OPPOSED!

i will only answer a SINCERE question from a non-veg. it is clear that while others are being genuine, there are others who are only here to stir up trouble. i try to be civil and respectful as much as possible, but after a non-veg posts a question such as "do vegetarians eat animal crackers?", they get no respect from me.

I think that it is no ones specific intention here to bust non-veg. people without pushed first. However, as several others here are, I am sometimes in a mood (I have them you know) or have answered ten non-veg. questions in a row and just happen to not pay attention or not be able to tell when an honest question is asked and I give them a good smack as though they were a troll. Yes, I am guilty of that sometimes. Yet I have to give credit to myself in that often times the circumstances are as this: A non-veg. trollie makes his way in here as often happens and he has become a skillful troll from much practice. He askes a question that is meant to be snide yet only appear as questionable. After some heartfelt responses from people who are trying to help, then comes the additions which are done in a repetitive manner and are no longer borderline offensive... they are now blatantly rude. To make matters worse... other non-veg. people (some not all) who are in here for whatever reason, not necessarily to slam veg.s, see a fellow meat eater who makes them laugh. Instead of keeping it to themselves they make an addition of their own to continue the process of degrading us. RARELY, have I seen a person who was not a vegetarian make a statement to help stop the downslope. Now, with this said, I'm sure it is easier to see why many vegetarians are often trigger-happy with remarks and slams because no one really wants to feel like they have been made the fool. That is where, at least for me, I make most of the mistakes I do concerning a non-veg. looking for information. For that, I should pay a little closer attention, I agree, but I am also not impared in a mental refrence and I know that more often than not this is not the case. Way more often. Then there is the rare day when I am not in any mood to hear nonsense, but on that day, I am as likely to snap at the first person that I disagree with, veg. or not. It makes no difference. But a little thinking on the part of those who blame us for this may well be better searved considering that there is a reason for it and what that reason might be. I'll leave you with this... There are very few that are regular in this section that I would even consider as rude, but there are even fewer that I have seen who cannot be prompted occasionally to get that way in a hurry when insulted on purpose.
I hope I at least made a little sense in my thoughts and hope you will take what I have said as honest feelings.... not a blame game.

I had to go back and look at your history before attempting to read this, and I see some problems with some of your answers, but I also understand where you are coming from.

You tried the vegan diet and because of allergies and bad planning you couldn't continue the diet. You now find yourself eating chicken on occassion and follow a vegetarian lifestyle beyond that. I applaud you for that. You have tried - showing respect for the lifestyle.

But when you claim that no culture has survived on a vegan diet you are incorrect, and that may have something to do with the thumbs down. The Jain religion is one of the oldest in the world (many believe it is the oldest) and it stresses as a guiding principle a vegan lifestyle. It has been done successfully by a cultural group that continues to this day through reproduction. They do not take supplements, nor do they suffer from a lack of B12. B12 is found in yeasts, not an animal, as some have argued, although animal behaviors are often used in describing what yeast does.

I saw three answers from you in this section, one had no thumbs down. The other two did, one claimed that we could not live this way, the other I honestly can't remember what it said. But, understand some of us are living this way successfully, and when you say we can't and add fuel to those arguments against us, we get upset. Because it can be done as shown by the Jains.

BTW - (call this my kissing *** for points attempt) Tereanea is a beautiful name, is it made up or a real name? I am serious about this.

I am not going to be rude just because a meat eater asked a question. I answer every question according to the manner in which it was asked.

If someone asked "I'm not a vegetarian, but I heard it can help you lose weight. Is this true?", I would give them any help I can and be just as nice as can be. But when people ask "Why are all vegans homosexual?" or "Don't vegetarians know the Bible says to eat meat?" or "Why are vegetarians so stupid?" I tend to get a little upset. These "questions" and the people who ask them do not deserve my respect.

You agree that the non-veggie people can be rude at times???? try "most of the time"...
Just take a look through answers Right Now... you'll see that there are more rude questions and responses coming from meat-eaters...than from veggies

I try not to answer questions in a rude way when they are actually questions(veggie or non-veggie). Usually that's not the case.
Usually it is some idiot coming in here to make fun of us or point out things that they think are wrong with the way WE live OUR life.
We put up with being made fun of and always having to defend OUR views all the time, during our real lives... why should we have to deal with it in here?

Um...the truth is always opposed? I think your truth is all just one sided. I do get rude when someone ask a question like "Aren't all vegans stupid?" Do you really think that person is just trying to enlighten vegans?

Also, if you actually read the answers that get thumbs down, they say stuff like "Vegans are all stupid," "I'm busy enjoying my steak right now," or "If you become vegan, you'll die." I really don't care if I'm being rude to people like that and I'm sure if someone constantly called you sick, stupid, preachy, etc. without even knowing you, you wouldn't be so peaceful about it either.

Oh, and I don't worship animals. And people that choose to be rude just for the sake of being rude don't deserve my respect.

I am not quite sure what you are saying. The fact is that as a non meat eater I have posted questions here about vegetarian food and been insulted by people who are meat eaters. One person felt the need to tell me that I obviously did not work and was supported by somebody else because of my vegetarian views.

A lot of meat eaters get on this forum and make strange statements that animals are the only form of protein or that god put anamals on this planet to eat or that the vegetarian/vegan diet is unhealthy.

Then they trol this site asking questions like is "Penguin meat tasty?" or whats the matter with my cheese burger.

Also vegetarians get the thumbs down when responding to a vegetarian question.

People asking questions is great but statements that are rude and insulting are not really welcome. And the statement "Plants have feelings too" is actually so ridiculous I am wandering how the poster finds their way home without help!! The fact is this is a vegetarian/vegan forum and some of the questions have been downright silly.

Also ' I dont see non veg people radically protesting against vegetarianism" No really. So questions like " Why cant I kill and eat animals? is not provacative. Or " Lets farm human meat?: Or other such nonsense. And the fact is a lot of meat eaters use this forum to be down right rude and nasty. If people dont want to eat meat thats their choice and if they love anaimals thats their business. Why should meat eaters be so adamant about the "unhealthy eating" of vegans and vegetarians and spout untruths.

Vegetarian and the vegan life style happen to be very healthy nutritional choices. In fact eating habits of vegans and vegetarians are promoted as a good way of treating diabetes or other threatening illnesses.

I think your statement THE TRUTH IS ALWAYS OPPOSED excellent.
Sadly the indoctrination of peoples in the USA is pretty ingrain. I understand the false standard of how much Protein a person needs only start around the late 40's early 50's(Dr. John McDougall's~The McDougall's Program for Maximum Weight Loss). The PR machines for for the meat, egg, dairy industry is huge & more succesful than is good for us.
A little decorum would be nice here on V&V. Between the frighten slashing out(as their veiws are challanged) & no one knowing just who they are( so can be as nasty as they want with no one to call them on it) it can get abit rude here.

Slainté(to your health)

There are plenty of rude and insulting attitudes from meat eaters in this section. Just read 20 or so past questions and you will find some of them.

Isn't this remark of yours a little insulting?
"Its a shame to find people worshipping animals more then treating their fellow beings with respect!"
As someone who works with the Department of Mental Health I spend all day trying to help mentally and physically handicapped people find government services. I recently hooked up a paraplegic lady with a company that would build a ramp for her at no cost. I'll bet she probably eats meat. What are you talking about? This silly Yahoo Answers thing isn't my entire life. I just use it to exchange some ideas and blow off a little stream. If somebody comes on here and spouts some misinformation about "vegetarians can't get enough protein", or whatever, I'm going to do my best to set them straight.

"THE TRUTH IS ALWAYS OPPOSED!"
Yes, we know the truth and rude meat-eaters oppose us. It gets us upset. It's human nature. I try not to be rude, and stick to information......even when I am unjustly attacked. But if someone is spreading bad info(esp. with a rotten additude), I'll call it like it is.

Genuine questions are treated well here.
I get a lot of thumbs down that I don't understand either. Rude people are in every category.

We don't worshop animals(derogatory speech).

"more then treating their fellow beings with respect!"

It's the meat-eaters that don't. We on the other hand treat respectable beings with respect. I don't consider uncaring people MY fellow beings - They're very different from me.

I take exeption to your term "vegan views". Humans ARE plant-eaters, protein IS overblown, and animals DO suffer. Those are not views. They're facts.

This message doesn't contain attitudes; just facts.
