You can become infected right away, but a person usually doesn't show symptoms of the virus (like their first outbreak) till about 2 - 20 days after being infected.

EVERY person is different though. Some people won't experience their first outbreak for months or even years after being infected. And, some people never get an outbreak, even though they have the virus.

My best friend has had genital herpes for about eight months now, and it's been really rough. She's had about 7 outbreaks. Everywhere I read it says it stops flaring up so much after time, but its not getting less frequent for her. She's been on Antiviral meds the whole time, too. She also has type 1 diabetes which she has had her whole life, which really weakens her immune system. Will it ever get better?

But after a friend share this video everything has changed.

You don't necessarly have it. It is only passed on when there is an active sore or during asymptomatic shedding (though you can't tell when this is happening)

Most people never get an outbreak, or its very mild and don't notice it. Then there are us unlucky ones who get it and have the most painful experience from it (not going to lie to you)

It could be from 2 days to say around 20

if you have sex with someone who has active herpes you will usually see symptoms within 2-20 days of having sex. but that funny thing with herpes it that it can be dormant in your system and you can have no symptoms at all!! you have have herpes for years and not know. you can have a sex with a person with herpes and not get it. but then again you can get it. sucks. always wear a rubber.
