When I want to WOW people I make a English trifle dessert. Tastes fabulous, and looks beautiful. There are recipes galore on the web. You might have to invest in a straight sided glass bowl, but once you do, it will be used over and over again. You will get so many requests to make a trifle again and again.

If you want to WOW them... then remember to not only have it taste wonderful you also must make it look wonderful. That's the double whammy! You don't say what type of dish you want to serve so here are 2 types.

For an easy but wow dessert take your best brownies chopped into cubes and layer them with brownies, good chocolate mousse, whipped cream, and continue: brownies, chocolate mousse, whipped cream and top with shaved chocolate. Put all this in a glass trifle or salad bowl so you can see the layers. To cheat use extra creamy cool whip if you need to have something stable that will travel (assemble at your site). To take it over the moon serve with chocolate and caramel sauces on the side. Folks will drool!

For a simple salad on a beautiful platter slice all different colors of heirloom tomatoes layered with sliced Buffalo mozzarella cheese and basil leaves. Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar and spinkle with diced fresh basil leaves over the top - very pretty.

if a dip is acceptable then thisis THE ONE

Neiman Marcus Dip

1 ½ lb Bacon
3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
3 chopped green onions
2 oz slivered almonds
Couple of spoons of mayonnaise
Spices

When you open your bacon take it out of the package in one piece – lay it on a large cutting board and cut it into about one inch pieces. Fry them until they are well done. If you have any parts that remain fatty discard them – they do not make a good dip. Drain and dry the bacon and place it in a medium ceramic bowl; add the almonds. As the bacon cools, using the end of a plastic spatula, break the bacon and almonds up into small pieces. Add into this the green onions (make sure you have plenty of greens from the onions), continue to mix and break the almonds and bacon up, add salt, coarse ground pepper, garlic salt and celery salt. Once this is pretty mixed and the bacon is for sure cool add in the cheese – mix this up really well and then add a spoon full of mayonnaise at a time until you get a good consistency. After well mixed refrigerate it for a while to let the flavor work its way through the dip.

You really need to let this set out a few minutes before your guest try and eat it.

Yum-make blackberry heaven
Put blackberries in water with some sugar, and bring to boil.
Put on the bottom-spreading around-of a 9 by 13 inch pan.
Put a white or yellow cake mix on top-making sure it covers all of the berries, and on top of this, put slices of butter(a whole stick worth) on top.
Bake for 30-40 minutes on 350 degrees.
This is awesome with a scoop of ice cream on top!

How about an antipasto? You can get really creative with the ingredients - marinated mushrooms, olives, fresh veggies, pepperoni, cherry boconchini, strips of roasted capsicum, artichoke hears and lay it out beautifully on leaves of baby spinach. Bring some balsamic vinegar and olive oil - pour the olive oil in a pretty white bowl and float the balsamic vinegar in it. Serve with chunks of french loaf. You can't help but wow them! :^ )
