The causes of your symptoms could be many things.

Read the information pages that are supplied to you when you received the medication. You can also go to a search engine and place metformin side effects into the search engine.

Metformin is quite typically the beginning medication that diabetics receive. If it does not work properly in controlling your diabetes your doctor will change it. Your pharmacist is also a good source about information about any medication.

It does not matter if anyone else had the same result as you did. it does matter that you have these symptoms which may or may not be from metformin.

I would also advise that you should be treated by a specialist. The specialist who treats diabetes is an endocrinologist. They know more, see many more diabetes patients in a day and are more up to the latest information about diabetes.

Good luck. See a doctor.

Metformin doesn't cause those symptoms. Stomach upset? Occasionally.
Diarrhea? Sometimes.
Tired and woozy? That's more likely a blood sugar problem.

Lactic acidosis might cause those symptoms. Metformin, on rare occasions, could trigger lactic acidosis when combined with alcohol consumption, but if you don't have the other symptoms of lactic acidosis, then it's not the Metformin.

Signs of lactic acidosis are:

* feeling very weak, tired, or uncomfortable
* unusual muscle pain
* trouble breathing
* unusual or unexpected stomach discomfort
* feeling cold
* feeling dizzy or lightheaded
* suddenly developing a slow or irregular heartbeat
