Yes, it is possible to have herpes (either cold sores or genital herpes) and not show any signs or symptoms of the virus. It's estimated about 75 - 80% of the WORLD has cold sores about about 25% of the world has genital herpes. The herpes virus is VERY common.
There are also 8 different kinds of the herpes simplex virus (I don't know where the guy got types A, B, and C, but that's wrong!) Herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV1) usually causes cold sores, but it can also cause genital herpes. Herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV2) is usually responsible for genital herpes, but can also cause cold sores. Herpes simplex virus 3 (HSV3) is responsible for shingles and the chickenpox. Herpes simplex virus 4 - 8 can cause different illnesses or diseases, but they are not as common as types 1, 2, and 3.
If your boyfriend has cold sores and gave you oral sex, then it could cause you to develop genital herpes. Herpes can be spread from the mouth to the genital area and vice versa by oral sex.
Good luck!

I got diagnosed with herpes (type 2) about 5 yrs ago, when I was still in college and had a dumb one-night stand. I understand a lot of young women say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a massive mistake that one time and all of a sudden it seemed like I was going to have to live with the implications for my entire life. The hardest part was feeling I could never date other men again. In the end, who wants to go out with a girl that has sores around her "you know what" area? But since a friend shared this video https://tr.im/vXVbN everything got better.
Not only was I able to remove all traces of the herpes virus from my body in less than three weeks, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so blessed to write that just last week, in front of everyone in a busy restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me! This system gave me back the opportunity to be happy and experience real love again. Now I hope that I can help others too by sharing this story.

My best friend has had genital herpes for about eight months now, and it's been really rough. She's had about 7 outbreaks. Everywhere I read it says it stops flaring up so much after time, but its not getting less frequent for her. She's been on Antiviral meds the whole time, too. She also has type 1 diabetes which she has had her whole life, which really weakens her immune system. Will it ever get better?
But after a friend share this video everything has changed.

If you have had oral sex with him, you could get herpes in your mouth. Even if he is not having an outbreak or no visible signs/symptoms. People who have herpes virally shed the virus. Similiar to the normal shedding of dead skin cells. There are no signs that someone is v. shedding. So if you give oral to someone with herpes, you can get herpes in your mouth, lips or throat.
Even a condom will not totally protect you from getting herpes while having intercourse also you should note. The virus can be anywhere in the genital area.
Also if he has cold sores (hsv1) and gives you oral sex, you will get hsv1 in your genital area. Many people who have genital herpes have no or very little symptoms, however, if you do get it and are unlucky enough to get the outbreaks, well, they hurt. You can take meds for outbreaks, but there is no cure. It's forever.

Genital herpes shows different symptoms in different people. Some may have severe problems while others may get the symptoms so mildly that they may miss it for something else.
Genital herpes begins its first episode within a fortnight of contact. Some people get severe symptoms of herpes in this episode while others may get very mild symptoms of herpes during the first episode. The main symptom is appearance of lesions. These may be pimples or blisters which will crust and heal within a month. Painful urination and headache may occur during the first episode. Some people also show flu-like symptoms during the first episode. Some other people may get very mild symptoms and take them as insect bites, rashes, ringworm, etc. As these symptoms resolve soon, people are left unaware of the fact that they have herpes. Then, blisters appear on the genitals and near genitals. The common areas are: on the vulva, penis, near anus, thighs, and inside vagina.

Yes you can have herpes with no symptoms, in fact it is not uncommon for people to pass the virus on and be completely oblivious to the fact that they have the virus to begin with because they have little or no recognizable symptoms.
The other thing to note is that you can catch genital herpes from someone performing oral sex on you.
Best of luck.

The most likely scenario is that he has the cold sore type. Actually if it is the cold sore type you can catch genital herpes through him giving you oral sex if you do not get cold sores yourself, even when he has no symptoms. This is what happened to me.
If you have had no signs or symptoms I would say you are ok so far. You can have herpes with no symptoms, but you have not had sex with him, and because of this if he has genital herpes you could not have contracted genital herpes from him, since that would require your genitals to have contact with his genitals. Herpes is a localised rather than a systemic infection.
The only way you could have contracted genital herpes is if he has the cold sore type on his mouth and he gave you oral sex. If you get cold sores yourself the chances of this happening are virtually nil, 60% of young people are infected with the virus so it isn't a big deal and there is a good chance you have it, but if you don't you need to be very careful about receiving oral sex off anyone, particularly anyone who has a history of cold sores. Someone with cold sores is infectious about 18% of the time including times when they have no symptoms. Most people infected with the virus don't know that they have it and are symptomless, as your boyfriend probably is. If you yourself were to test negative for both the herpes simplex viruses, the chances of you getting genital herpes are as high through receiving oral sex with someone who has cold sores as from having unprotected intercourse with someone who has genital herpes.
I knew my boyfriend had cold sores, knew that they could be transferred to my genitals through oral sex and cause genital herpes, but I still let him give me oral. Although we had been together for several years he had only given me oral sex a handful of times in those years because we were aware of the risk, but I thought because he had absolutely no symptoms at the time he gave me oral that I was safe. It isn't bad physically but I find the stigma hard to deal with. If I had known how high the risk was, given I'm not that keen on oral anyway, I think I would have avoided oral sex.

When HSV testing is done on an individual, HSV1/2 IgG and IgM are completed. So when the results come back it is broken down into type one and type two. If it came back positive, the office where the test was ran would know which one it is. I find it hard to believe that they don't know, they have to report any positives to the CDC so they have to know. Somebody is lying to you. I work in a hospital lab and I am not aware of any HSV tests that do not distinguish between the two and only show a positive and negative. All HSV are titer results (a number).
To answer your question, Yes it is possible to contract HSV even if it is type one. However, if he has no symptoms right know it is very unlikely. I would wait for the other results to come back before making any decisions regarding sexual intercourse or oral at this point.
