Yes, it's called self-reinfection.

If you touch a cold sore and then touch your genital area or rub your eyes, you can spread it. This is why it is so important to always wash your hands after touching a herpes sore.

Herpes can occur in the genital area (genital herpes) and in the eyes (ocular herpes). You can even develop herpes sores on the fingers (herpetic whitlow). Take care!

I agree with Alli 100%. Herpes can turn from HSV 1 to HSV 2 by not washing your hands properly and following certin percautions.
