We are giving my sister a surprise 16th birthday party. There will be about 50 people there. It will be held at a cabin in a nature park around here--the environment is beautiful and the cabin also has a deck. Any ideas?

Get everyone you know who has little white Christmas light strings to lend them to you. String those up either in the cabin or over the deck. (I've done this a couple times when setting up weddings.) And party stores have foil wire strings with stars on them. You can wrap them around things, or use them as table runners. And you can get star confetti too for the tables. Little star candle votives in a little fish bowl of water for centerpieces.

But those twinkly lights really make you feel like you're dancing under the stars!

If you have an outside deck and trees around, get those glowing stars that are made to be put on a ceiling and fishing line. And hang the stars from the trees. If serving punch out of a big punch bowl get some of those reuseable ice cubes that blink. A local resturant puts them in a drink and the drink glows. I hope the party goes great!

first off, LOVE the idea! second, Make everyone dress semi-formal. As far ask masks go you could buy them (kinda pricey!) Make them (a bit time consuming) or have plain white plastic masks, glittler, paints, and feathers, and have people make their own at the party. Dark lighting is a must, as you have probably already figured haha. Don't forget the chandelier! you could make one yourself seeing as purchasing a large chandelier may not be in most peoples budgets. make one out of candles. there are several different ways to do this OR have the cake in the shape of a chandelier. hope that helps a little. :)
