I just found out that i have genital warts and the doctor told me that the kind that I have does not cause cervical cancer in women. My partner was very sceptical at this info and would like to know for sure! As would I! Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Cervical cancer and genital warts are caused by different kinds of HPV. There are over 120 different kinds of HPV that are each responsible for different things.

You might be "carrying" a kind of HPV that can cause cervical cancer if a woman contracts the virus from you. Obviously you won't be showing any signs of this kind of HPV and it won't directly affect you because men have no cervix. But, if a woman contracts the virus from you, and you are "carrying" a kind of HPV that can cause cervical cancer, it could possibly cause her to develop cervical cancer.

Good luck!

How did your doctor arrive at the determination that the warts you have don't cause cervical cancer? That particular thing is called Human Papilloma Virus. A really common wart type condition is called molluscum contagiosum and another one is called condyloma acuminata. There are probably more but these are the only ones I can recall at the moment.
Did your doctor do anything to get rid of them? If he/she didn't, he/she should have. If he/she didn't, go see someone else, a gynecologist.

your dr should have gave you more and better information than that. You can go on the website www.diseases.com and find out more about genital warts than what your dr told you....
