I live in New England. My fam and I are planning to add on and go up later this summer and the hydro air system has been chosen as their first pick for a heating/cooling system. However, I like to be 'green', save money, etc. We currently have a base board heater, and I would like to know which is the best decision.

Your family actually picked a very good choice. The hydro-air system is a very effecient method of moving heat/cool around a house. Better effeciency means less cost and less energy used. According to brochures put out by Hydro-Air you can even get some "green" options.

On page 3 they show an optional solar collector to help heat the warm water that is circulated through the system. This type of solar usage is more beneficial than Photoelectric solar panels. Ask how much it would cost for that option, It would most likely be worth the price.

This has many adavantages over base-board heat. One of which is safety. Thanks for posting this... I had never heard of hydro-air before but have had experience with in-floor heating systems. My sister just built a house with in-floor heat + a ground source heat pump.

If you want to be green, leave off the A/C. Living in New England, you really don't need it.
