Just because the warts are physically gone, doesn't mean the virus that causes them (HPV) is also gone.
A lot of people assume because the warts are gone they can't spread the virus anymore or aren't infected anymore and that's not true.
Most women CAN get rid of the virus though. Their bodies can basically "fight it off".
However, there is no "cure" for HPV. When most people think of a cure they think of drugs, therapy, or other remedies to get rid of the virus. Since there are no drugs to get rid of the virus there is technically no "cure".
Since it is a virus though, some people will ALWAYS have it. Their bodies are unable to get rid of the virus. There are NO cures for viruses (herpes, HPV, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, measles, small pox, etc.)
I would suggest letting him know you have HPV and have had genital warts from it, even if you think you may have gotten rid of it. Good luck!

Genital warts are hyperplastic, sometimes pedunculated lesions of the skin or mucous membranes of the genitals caused by human papillomaviruses (HPVs). Some HPV types cause flat endocervical or anal lesions that are precancerous. Diagnosis is clinical. Multiple treatments exist, but few are highly effective. Genital warts may resolve without treatment in immunocompetent patients but may persist and spread in patients with decreased cell-mediated immunity (eg, HIV infection).
How is HPV/genital warts contracted? Through oral, anal, and vaginal sex and through skin-to-skin contact. To help prevent infection, use a condom. It's not clear exactly how effective condoms are at protecting against HPV and genital warts, but they will protect you against other STDs, including HIV.
Even if you do NOT have symptoms, however, you must be treated to avoid complications and spreading the condition to others.
Please see the web pages for more details on Genital warts.

I got clinically diagnosed with herpes virus (type 2) about 3 yrs ago, whilst I was still in college and had a foolish one-night stand. I understand loads of people say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a massive mistake that one time and all of a sudden it seemed like I was going to have to live with the implications for the rest of my life. The hardest part was feeling I could never date guys again. In the end, who wants to go out with a girl that has sores round her "you know what" area? But since a friend shared this video https://tr.im/Auk0I everything improved.
Not only was I able to remove all traces of the hsv from my system in less than 21 days, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so lucky to write that just a week ago, in front of everybody in a crowded restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!! This system provided me the opportunity to be happy and experience true love again. Now I want to help others too by sharing this story.

You really don't want him going near the area in general. It's the best way to keep him protected, and I'm sorry, I know it sucks.
Using a female condom (diaphragm) is an extremely effective way to keep him safe if he's ever going down there because it covers the outside of the vagina as well as in. The way to go is to let him know, but I know that isn't easy so do your best to keep him safe, making sure you watch out for him if it ever comes up. Herpes can be spread whether they are being treated for or not!
Take care and good luck!!
