I am wondering if you use Byetta injections to help control your diabetes. If so, do you like it compared to your previous diabetes meds? Does it help control your hunger? My mom is looking at using this and she doesn't know much about it. I am trying to find out some opinions from people who use it on a daily basis. Thanks!

I have been using Byetta now for a month. I am still on the 5mcg dose.

I have not experienced any of the reported nausea at all. No, I have not experienced any reduction of hunger, either.

I don't really care for taking shots of any kind, but I have been faithful in doing them twice a day. My blood sugars are indeed coming down.

Perhaps when I graduate to the 10mcg dose I will notice something different, but so far, so good, I guess.

I just started on Byetta five weeks ago. I take it in addition to my regular insulin. Byetta is injected just like insulin. I n five weeks I have lost eight pounds. It works on the brain and decreases your appetite. The reason you eat less is because you are usually have nausea most of the time. I also have heart palpitations and slight headaches. Some people I have been told vomit as well. The up side is that it really controls my blood sugars well. Supposedly the symptoms usually go away or at least lessen after about six weeks. It is worth looking into. I wish your mom luck with her diabetes.
