For free, depending on where you live, put it out in the front yard with a for sale sign. That works great where I'm at, rural area. Otherwise, check your local papers, especially those ones that are strictly all classified ads. Usually the fee is fairly small, $5-10.00. You could also look in those papers, there's places that will take broken appliances, some will pay a small fee. They'll haul them away, fix them up, and resell them.

I've had wonderful luck with craigslist. You can follow the link below, and change to your city & state. Take pics of your items, and download them as part of your ad. I think you can add 4 pics per ad. You can list them in different categories, ie: free, furniture, electronics, etc. to get the best coverage. You can have them contact you by phone if you provide a number, or you can have them email you directly if you provide your email address, or if you wish to remain anonymous until you have an agreement, you can have them contact you via email through craigslist. The best part??? Craigslist is FREE!!!

People have already give you some good ideas.
-Craig's list
-free cycle
-facebook marketplace
-put it out at the curb
-bring them to goodwill
-a combination of the above.
You final decision will depend on the area in which you live. Good for you though for doing the ecologically and socially responsible thing with your un wanted stuff!

On Yahoo Groups, check for "Freecycle"; they are listed by area or region, and their purpose is to connect parties with items to give away to those that might want those things.
It's free, and dedicated to keeping useful stuff out of landfills.
