Can I wear it?

Question

I am going to a wedding of a guy who plays flute with a famous rock band.
Can I wear my Original Limited Edition Bob Marley T-Shirt and not cause any embarassment?

I got my Original when I went unto this wicked site by a guy who WAS Bob Marley's photographer.

I wouldn't. Save the t-shirt for the reception. Wear a nice outfit that's got a rock and toll vibe. I'm sure you can pull off that image without looking like you're going to a concert. Of course the best thing to do is ask him what the preferred dress is for the wedding. Don't be embarrassed. Just be open about it. Let's face it, weddings are usually the bride's dream. Even though she married a rock and roller, maybe she always wanted a formal wedding. On the other hand, maybe she wants a rock and roll wedding. Be safe, ask.

Just because the groom is in a famous rock band doesn't mean that he will be dressed down nor that his bride will be either. If the invitation specificaly doesn not speak about a 'dress down' affair, I would dress as I do for any other wedding. My neice just got married. The entire wedding party was dressed in an extra formal attire including my brother and sister in law. But on her invitations, it specifically said "Come dressed Hawaiian" so the congregation was all in hawaiian outfits. When the wedding was over and the pics were done, the wedding party left the church headed for the reception hall. The hall was entirely hawaiian style. My nephew, her brother, is in a hawaiian band and they played good old fashioned hawaiian music too. The groom and all his men came in about 30 minutes after we arrived and everyone of them were all still dressed alike, only in hawaiian outfits. The bride and her ladies in waiting soon followed and they had taken their bottom halves of their formals off (all these were homemade dresses) and replaced them with hula skirts that were made in the material of the dress top. Very unique. Even the bride had her hula skirt on, only it was floor length while the ladies were knee length. We had a good time. But dressing in a dressdown attire for the wedding was ok for that one because we were told we could on the announcement. So, make definitely sure that you do not wear something that would embarrass you or the bride and groom and their families if it wasn't appropriate. When in doubt, call them and ask.

they wouldnt have invited you to come if they didnt want you there, they obviously accept you for who you are, so, if this is the kinda stuff you usually wear, then wear it. I'm sure they would rather you came and were yourself as wear something that wast you and you be uncomfortable the whole time. Course he may not be a Marley Fan LOL!

ONLY if t shirts are the kind of thing you wear at other weddings. This day is not about music, it's about being with friends on an important day. Save the tshirt for the poolside day-after brunch.

The only person I think that should be embarassed would be yourself. No one else, even the flute player would be.....they would probably just be embarassed for you. I personally don't feel that this is the type of attire to wear or attend any wedding......flute player or no flute player. I feel it would be very disrespetful to the couple.

Probably not. If the parents are there and expecting something a bit more traditional, it would be in bad taste.
