Meat eaters are always talking about how vegetarians push our lifestyle down their throats. When I have had vegetarian friends for a year before I became one, not one of them called me evil, or murderer. While meat eaters always shove meat under my nose like they are trying to see if they can get me to eat meat so they can say I knew you were doing it for attention or something. They don't stop and doing stuff like when eating a burger in front of me (I don't get mad when they do this), this is what makes me mad is when they are eating it infront of me knowing I'm a vegetarian, they say stuff like emm yummy cow.

Many people do this to me aswell.
Also people think I am offended when they eat meat, though I repeatedly tell them I am not at all offended that they are eating meat within my vicinity. They still mention it, "poor sarah, I am sitting here scarfing down my burger, she's probably so disgusted".

The person who keeps a pan just for their friend's veggie burgers.. that's a good friend :D

I think it's just that they don't understand how you could not want to eat meat, because they love it, and can't imagine not eating it. They think you still have cravings for it, but just don't let yourself eat it. Which is probably the case for some, but I don't see meat as being food.

people try to antagonize you because they think its something for attention or it just a joke. When you are serious about this as im sure you are, people never take you seriously so they think its like a joke to make fun of you and see if you will crack eventually because sometimes people go through a phase where they want attention by being a vegetarian. its dumb and you will probabally not have any luck until you stick with your diet choice for a while

I'm not a vegetarian, but I have several friends who are, and I would never do something so rude and inconsiderate. In fact, I keep a specfic pan in my kitchen just for cooking my friends veggie burgers so they don't have to use the pans we cook meat in. If anyone is treating you like that, stand up for yourself. Do so in a way that shows that they are crossing your boundaries and aren't respecting you, but don't sink to the level that they apparently sink to. In the meantime, it would be nice if you wouldn't make such sweeping generalizations about non-vegetarians. I find that offensive.

Maybe you look like you need some protein...
It is annoying but all you can do it chalk it up to ignorance and continue doing what you are doing. People try to dangle meat in my face too. I either laugh or say gross, depending on what mood I am in. Sometimes I will say, Sure! I want some. Then laugh when they believe me!! ha ha

Because people are stupid. I tried to be a vegetarian once and I know exactly what you mean. Instead of just respecting you for your choice, they feel like you're judging them or something. So they think they have to convert you or something. I am convinced that at least one of my daughters will someday come to me and tell me that they want to be vegetarians. And you know what? That is fine with me. I try to serve at least two vegetarian meals a week anyway.

Probably you were looking longingly at the meat or even drooling a bit. They were trying to be good friends to you.
