Yes. You are either a lacto-ovo vegetarian (you eat no meat, but you do eat eggs and dairy products), or strictly a an ovo-vegetarian (No meat or dairy products, but eggs). It depends on whether you eat dairy products or not.

If you don't eat dead flesh or death by-products, but you do eat eggs and dairy, then you are a lacto-ovo vegetarian. To consider yourself vegetarian, you still need to watch for death by-products in your dairy foods, like rennet in cheese and gelatin in sour cream and yogurt. There are plenty of varieties that are vegetarian-friendly.

Yes you are, at least an ovo-vegetarian. If you drink milk add lacto- as a prefix - lacto-ovo-vegetarian.

Ovo - latin for egg.
lacto - latin for milk.

If you want to be a strict vegetarian you should not eat gelatin, and some cheeses. Gelatin comes from animals (bones, cartilege, other stuff). Some of our cheaper cheeses use rennet from slaughtered animals to provide an enzyme needed to produce cheese.

I would not condemn you for calling yourself a vegetarian, if you still had traces of these items in your food, but beware others will.

There are many hidden ingredients, to worry about if you want to be a dedicated vegetarian.

In that case, I would consider you a lacto vegetarian. They eat eggs and dairy products, but no meat.

Hope this helps!

If you eat no animal flesh, and you avoid gelatin and make sure your cheese doesn't have rennet, you are an ovo-lacto vegetarian.
