I'm a vegan as a way of avoiding the American diet, such as fast foods. Not eating meat cuts down on a lot of fat and going vegan is a for sure way of eating a lot more fruits and veggies. I don't eat dairy because it's real harsh on my stomach. I make sure to never pressure others and I actually hate Peta. As for guide dogs, I think they're one of the extra gifts animals provide for us and is a true example of man's best friend.

I'm vegan because it's the right thing for me. I stopped liking the taste of meat as I got older, so I went veg. Then I found out about the horrors of the dairy and egg industries and went vegan. Long story short, I know, but I don't want to write a novel.
As for guide dogs, I have no problem with working animals, including service animals (which I believe is the preferred term). I don't have problems with police using K9 officers, as they are treated as full partners. I think the idea of therapy animals is wonderful.
Working animals are fine, but animals in entertainment is another matter entirely, and I firmly oppose the latter.

I'm vegan because I don't like to contribute suffering. The idea of my food having been tortured before I eat it for months only to suffer a probably inhumane death seems terrible to me. Dairy cows and egg laying hens also have it bad, if not worse since they're kept alive in horrible conditions longer than the animals meant primarily for slaughter. Not to mention the dairy industry directly contributes to the veal industry so it would be extremely hypocritical for me to be for animal rights but still have dairy.
What's wrong with guide dogs? I think you have a misconception about vegans. It's true that being vegan is not just a diet but also a way of life so it does affect aspects outside of just food. As a vegan, my philosophy (hopefully all true vegans think this way) is to care about all animals. People are animals so they fit in to that category too. If a blind person needs a guide dog, provided that the dog is well cared for, why shouldn't you help that person out?

i do it for the animals, because i don't want to support the exploiting of animals, and because i think animals' lives are just as important as ours.
i think guide dogs are fine, just like i think having a dog as part of your family is fine. owner and dog would have a great relationship with a lot of love. what else could you ask for?

i am a vegan because i dislike animal cruelty. animals used for food consumption are treated so cruelly and so inhumanely, it disgusts me to know that there are corporations (and people outside of corporations) who enjoy slaughtering innocent animals just to satisfy our gluttonous desires. animals deserve a chance at living a full life.
plus, there are the obvious health benefits with abstaining from animal products. that means way less artery-clogging fats and cholesterol. that means no heart disease, stroke, osteoperosis when i get older. i know that i, too, will die, but i want to die of old age the most natural way... not because of a massive heart attack that could have been prevented.
i know there are a few people who would disagree because they believe in complete animal liberation, but i believe it's perfectly fine to use a guide dog or have a pet as long as he is treated well, fed well, and most importantly, loved. my pets may not be roaming the wild, as nature intended them to be, but i can see they love and appreciate my companionship as much as they love and appreciate mine.

Being a guide dog must be that soul's karma. (I am not a vegan).
