10 years ago we would have gone mad at propsals for Nuclear Power Plants, but nowadays they are becoming almost acceptable as everybody wants to cur back on Co2.

Has Global Warming been a ploy to trick the general public into accepting nuclear energy?

Global Warming is a decoy to make the Gullibles (the majority) believe that living in poverty and giving up all our rights to a mega-government is the way to go.

Is “global warming” a trick?

Global warming is happening, look at retreating glaciers and other indicators and the evidence points to warming – at least over the last couple of hundred years. This warming may just be the effects of coming out of the Mini Ice age that lasted form about 1350 to 1850. Or it may be the natural cycle of the planet, or because there is reduced cloud cover over the earth.

The hoax about Global warming is that Man caused or is causing global warming.

That said, The hoax has been the 40 or more years of derogatory propaganda perpetuated by the Media, Hollywood (china syndrome), authors and book sellers (We Almost Lost Detroit) and various “self proclaimed” environmentalists that do not understand Nuclear power. Even the home country of Green Peace (France) has over 70% of their electricity produced by Nuclear Power. Nuclear Power produces clean, safe electrical power.

Nuclear Power can help reduce, radio active emissions, heavy metal emissions and acid rain caused by coal burning power plants (not to mention the loss of life in mining accidents). As well as reduce dependence (a little) on foreign energy sources.

The only thing a Nuclear plant gives off is a cloud (Which may actually help alleviate global warming).

If you believe the movie, "The Great Global Warming Swindle", then it could be just a hoax to help Margaret Thatcher break a coal miner's strike. It isn't far from there to promoting nuclear power.

But I don't believe that. It makes perfect sense that more CO2 would cause more warming. And it makes perfect sense that the burning of so much coal and oil could release enough CO2 into the air to make a measurable difference in the world wide concentration if it continued for centuries. And measurements confirm that. See the source. The measurements in that source are not disputed. Warming deniers accept it too. It is only the resulting warming that is hotly disputed.

I don't believe in global warming..Nuclear power isn't as bad as people think..I lived close to the North Anna nuclear power plant in Virginia..we never had a problem..3 mile island was the last accident in the US and that was around 81 or so..it's safe and cheap

Nuclear power has only one downside Containment... the containment of the reaction and it's waste. Both of these methods have been getting better and better. People still maintain the fears that are no longer founded. Disposing of nuclear waste has several options and the two most promising have no real downside besides transporting and limited capacity. Power-wise it is the most efficient source of energy we have currently.

Global warming should have nothing to do with the shift to nuclear. We should be converting old technology to new methods just because it works better.

No, global warming is not a "decoy".

10 years ago, a whole lot less people "believed" in global warming. But that doesn't mean anything. People used to think the world was square, now didn't they?

Plus, its not all about NUCLEAR energy. What about hydro, air, and solar-powered energy?

"Stopping" global warming isn't just about changing our fuel sources either. Its about consuming less (not just energy, but natural resources like metal and paper), and conservation.

You're mostly right except for one thing. Global warming is not a ploy. It's scientific fact.

And yes, it has convinced many environmentalists who were formerly anti-nuclear, that nuclear power is the lesser of two evils.

Foremost may be James Lovelock. His environmental and scientific credentials are impeccable. His belief in the Earth as a self regulating system (which he called Gaia) seemed to be boundless, and was expressed in both popular books and peer reviewed scientific articles.

The scientific data on global warming has changed his mind. His latest book "The Revenge of Gaia" is a passionate plea for a crash program to deploy nuclear energy, from a most unlikely source.

So you're right about global warming being a reason used for promoting nuclear power. But I believe you're dead wrong about being a ploy. From your viewpoint it may be a tragedy.

For what it's worth here's some of the massive body of scientific data proving global warming:

I hope it works, because Nuclear is our only hope. There is not another alternative that can provide the massive amout of RELIABLE enegy we need at a reasonable cost that does not pollute the air.

Solar and Wind cannot. Far to costly and unreliable.

Fission is the way to go. It pollutes a lot less than oil or coal plants. And it's much safer since the Chernobyl days.
